New Sony Ericsson: 'Clara'

Hey - just to bring you all up to date with what's happening at M-R. :)

Eldar from M-R.com has said that he has got his hands on a new model from Sony Ericsson, nicknamed `Clara`. It seems that it's the `F700/K900/T650` that we've all been waiting for, and he's saying that SE think it's going to be `a killer`. So far the specs. are:

Screen: 262k colours, 176*220.
Connectivity: Bluetooth 1.2
Camera: CCD sensor (I think), 2 MegaPixels. Similar to that of S700i, but higher resolution.
Memory: Internal ~ 90MB, possibly 100MB. External - MSD. But we might see a 256MB MSD by the time it's released.
Design: Plastic, similar to T630, with altered back cover, probably idea of 'dual front', half phone, half camera again. Eldar's proto. is `dark in colour`.
UI: Similar to the present UI. I don't know if that includes V800i's UI, which is the same, but with added animation eg Highlights.
Other: MP3 playback supported, possible FM Radio.

Eldar also says that there's another model in the pipelines, which will be a real premium handset with a new UI that SE are working on that's based on the present one with a few changes.

differences is not huge but a very good. I try some skins on emulator, it is not ordinary In some ways they use all buttons for navigate, call etc... In my opinion it will be good approach for SE in 2005
New style connector means that user can hotplug the phone directly to PC, plug&play (via USB?) and browse files on the phone and MSD card.

USB cable included with Eldar's pre-release model - Clara can be used as Flash Drive without additional software/drivers!

screen determines a phone's size. a candybar can go no further as increasing the size meant increasing in width and length. 176x220 of the K700's screen is already one high resolution screen from a candybar... think: 6230's 128x128 or Samsung E800's 120x160.......

Here are the three pictures again. As commedecargons said, the screen on the K700i already uses very small pixels, and I think that the screen is about as big as you can get (for now) for a phone that size. Any bigger, and the size will be bigger, just compare it to the S700i.

At the rate SE has been releasing it's phones, 2Q 2005 is an understatement :D I think for a totally new phone (not upgrades), 3Q 2005, maybe? But if they're upgrades, then my guess is 1Q-2Q 2005.

i really do hope SE cut the crap and released a K700i with mem slot.... bugger off with the Sony's high class product thingy.. do it the Nokia way (i mean marketing) For ur info, K700 was designed to leave out a space for a memory slot, on the upper right corner just around the battery and the upper part. Sources from mobile-review i guess....... BTW, mobile-review had one of the worst navigation for websites........

the P1000 is something i'm curiouse to see, but i hope it's not an upgraded P910. but then again, touch screen + flip = turn off for me.

i hope they integrate the numeric key pad/keyboard like the Treo design, or atleast have it slide from behind.

It looks like a more classy version of the black T630, combined with a Creative Zen player to me, which I'm perfectly fine with, as I still like the look of T630 the best vs. SE's more recent phones.

But Memzee, what about the brown/bronze keypad u showed us? Does that mean this phone will be available in that colour too? And any other news on the phone's release date?

7710 is cool, but not cool enough to make it a worth puchase. it's also a new format, so you would have to wait for new application.

what i'm amused by is that ppl seem more ready to believe in the obviously photoshopped images of Karina and Katrina than the clara; for one thing, those images look very ameturish, similar to some of those entries in that SE mobile design contest a while back. secondly, i seriously don't think that SE would release a new model which looks WAY too similar to T610; it's a job which even another certain pro-clone company can pull off in a better manner.

Personally, I believe in the Clara as it fits the way SE phone designs have been headed thus far; slightly similar to prev models, but w at least some slight aesthetic touch-ups which make it look different. Plus I guess I WANT to believe in its existence, 'cos it looks cool as hell, second to the S700i (which would have been perfect, if not for it's obscene bulkiness) :D

if the specs are as purported to be, then i can safely say that this is gonna be SE's next winner after the highly successful T610/630/K700i series :)

yupe~~ obviously........ i guess it would be a 1.3MP, Radio, 2.3" screen with 262k and around 64MB of build in and Memory Stick Duo Pro. But i do hope since Sony had signed for SD licensee, they would release a mid-high end cell phone with SD card storage. :)

i have a feeling SE would introduce the MSD+SD combo in the P1000. Things like that usally start off in high end models, besides, it's a major purchasing factor.

same here...... when the K700 was introduced to the market, it was retailing for RM1899. now since the price had dropped to RM11++ it was selling like hotcakes. nothing in this range is as appealing. even the mighty younger bro K500 was retailing at around RM9++ which was too near to make an impact.
