Does anyone know what the differences between the V500 and V525 are? All I know so far is that Vodafone will have the V525 while Orange will have the V500. I do not know if there are any actual differences or different model numbers were assigned so each carrier could have their own.

Well, according to GSMArena (http://www.gsmarena.com) there's only one major difference - the v500 weighs in at 123g while the v525 is 114g.
The battery life appears to vary, the v500 has 210 standby and 8 talk, whereas the V525 has 200 standby and 6.30 talk although of course these will vary.

I tried looking at the motorola pages but sadly their specification pages are not identical and so it is really hard to try and compare. Seemingly though the V525 has an MP3 player (MP3 Player and polyphonic ringer tones add a powerful audible experience. Richer musical tones will resonate from your phone each time it rings.) whereas the V500 doesn't (although it does play mp3 ringtones).

Go figure :-/

in fact the v300 does have an mp3 player

when you play mp3s on your phone u can press the middle button to navigate back to the main screen

whilst there - the phone will continuously play mp3s and you get new icons on the screen to for fast forward and rewind

I have just bought a V525 in Australia, it is Vodafone branded, painted logo on front and sticker within, also it has vodafone live branded software. Not much information about it anywhere that I can find, and as I dont use Vodafone as my providor I can't get the MMS setup yet (Edit: after a bit of searching and some phone calls I now have this set up) , as the V600 or V300 havnt been released here yet. The setups for those phones should be the same and they wont just be available on Vodafone. Australia wont get the V500, must be some exclusivity deal with Vodafone.

The phone seems great and everyone has remarked on the clearness of the screen and the quality of the photos. it does not come with a data cable, beware!

I can't find any accessories in Oz yet either, I expect more will be available when the V600 gets released at the end of January (thats what Motorola in Australia tell me).

Might be a couple of months yet before I can experience this phone to the full.

But what accessories do you really need since it already has bluetooth?

data transfer is there, head sets are there, not really missing on much really.

The main difference is that the V525 is Quad band while the V500 is only tri band.

Sync is not really there without the Motorola Mobile PhoneTools 2.0 accessory package. You can transfer audio and picture files but not much else. I am still playing with it however so I am not 100% on this yet.
