any idea when nokia will release this thing?

the edge will probably mean nothing to me in south africa but i want the rest of the features. it looks good, too!

Nokia says official release is the 3rd quarter of the year. Well... we're in the middle of the 3rd quarter now so I would expect it to be released soon.

While we're on this subject, this has always annoyed me with Nokia... when they say a product will be released in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th quarter they usually mean the last few weeks of that particular quarter, or even later!

The presence feature has to be supported by networks. I bet it will be awhile before it catches on and operators start supporting and offering it, especially in North America.

Yeah.. the Network Operators have to use a "Nokia Presence Server"
I remember a product specialist we met at CeBIT talking about it. You would be able to see that your buddy was in a meeting.. and leave him alone. I think of it as similar in some ways to sharing exchange calendars... very neat indeed.
