well....i have been debating over which phone to choose from....can anyone help me out.
what have you been debating about? both phones are about the same except the 6670 is slightly better feature -wise, the real difference is the form factor. which do you prefer?

only concern being that the 6260 is a little too big and all the reviews have been so negative

From what i saw, don't get 6260 its just way too big when the flip is open.
skarydevil
11-15-2004, 03:28 PM
but then again it is one of the phones which has all the features and i guess for a user of 3650 the size would not be too big...the only other choice i have is 6670 which is more expensive. so i am in a fix....and i only wanna buy a nokia.

Why not wait for the 3230? It has similar specs to the 6260 with additional 1.3 megapixel camera plus some other features I think. Can you wait till February 2005?

I doubt if i can wait till that long as i am really bored with my 3650 and am looking to get a new one asap. wat would the price range for the 3230 be?? and is the 6670 better than the 6260?

@sharkydevil:
I've seen the 6260 up close. It's nice. It looks better though when the screen is turned on. I've never used the phone and don't know how hard or how easy is it to use it.
The 6670 and the 7610 are one in the same phone with a different exterior. Choosing one or the other depends on your taste. I prefer the 7610 (I really like my 7610: thin, black and visually appealling).
One daily from where I live stated that the 3230 might have the same price as the 6260, but that is mere speculation and nothing is really sure yet. It's lack of a datacable and it's only 32 mb rs-mmc (which you could always upgrade anyway) might be the reason why it will be less expensive than the 7610 , but I could be wrong.
If you wait for the 3230, you get all the features of the 7610 and the 6260 plus some additional features all in one phone. Of course, the 6630 would be the more technologically advanced model.
smilewarrior
11-17-2004, 04:15 PM
Just to add, you can survive without a datacable. All you really need is bluetooth so that your phone and your pc can communicate with each other. I use Billionton Bluetooth Dongle (10 meters). It works well with my 7610. Data transfer is a breeze.

hey.....thanks for the info.....i am myself waiting for the 3230...but here in india the nokia dealers have no idea when its gonna come out....and yea i do like the loks of that phone. even the 6630 is nice but again notknown wen its gonna be launched here....though i would love to their prices.

does the flip of the 6260 tend to losen up with usage??
does the flip of the 6260 tend to losen up with usage??
I've had mine for three weeks now, it may not be long enough to determine, but i can say mine has stayed one fine. Of course in terms of phones designed like this, there will be some loseness, but by that time you may already be looking to upgrade to a newer spec phone....thus, it will be a while yet.
[...............]
Now, as for FM Radio and its importance in a spec list, i personally wont buy a phone that either hasnt got it built in, or hasnt got a compatible external one....we just take it for granted, now that its a comon feature. Its not too long ago that mobile phones were selling on the fact that they had SMS capability and even then some folks didnt see it as important. Look at it now.
The radio DJs in this country, BBC Radio 1 at least, are funny as heck, i always fight myself from falling down laughing on a train or bus journey. The music is good, and i get access to up to date news on current affairs and whats goin on in my area. Best of all, ITS ALL FREE!!!
So, IMO an FM Radio in a mobile phone, is a big selling point in decision between two phones that are otherwise alike.

thanks a lot for the review....i will be using the phone for about a year atleast. and there is a diff of 4500 grand too.. and as far as the radio goes...i have never felt the need to use one...i am using a 3650 for the last year....i think i will just go and pick up a phone cos the more i think the more confused i get...

ive used 6670, its kinda nice which i find hard to say being a 7610 owner. But whats the point of it? its just a different casing. The nu features can be put onto 7610 like that *clicks finger*.
if i had the choice now, i would go with 6260 because i like the idea of having radio, with headphone use. But if ur camera crazy go with ....7610 forget the 6670, why pay so much more when you can have 7610 at the new low low prices? It looks better too.

Faster? Not at all! The only differences between these two:
1) You can disable the Preview Option after taking photos on 6670.
2) You can assign 4 more shortcuts to the D-pad on 6670
3) Preinstalled Quickoffice suite, Netfrony Web-browser and Data Transfer Application on 6670
and finally different look and design of course ;)

Nothing much between 7610/6670:
7610 looks better/classier/prestigious - since advt. more and larger user base
is 2mm thinner
has opera browser
more multimedia oriented
6670 also looks good, but some keys at bottom row very small
has netfront browser, some office viewer apps.
Both have same CPU/mem/mmc/display/size/OS/camera
Simply personal choice, price difference nominal now (6670 slightly cheaper)
Can anybody confirm whether 6670 can accept regular MMC or only RS-MMC? If can accept, then big + for 6670.

Same thing. i'd go for a 7610 or 6260..... but i prefer FM over MP. Nokia always makes me kinda stumble in da middle....
7610 - great looks, no FM
6260 - great specs, no MP(small prob) bad hinge
6670 - Fugly
3230 - great specs, Fugly

Thanks. Then I guess I am pretty happy with my 7610 as you are with 6670 - as I said nothing much difference really.
Off topic - I found that my menu open speed was slow, which actually everyone was saying 7610/6670 pretty fast. I realised too many apps keep getting on main menu - move them to folders - and voila - real fast menu open now.

does the 512 mb rs-mmc work properly with the 6670?? and how much does it cost in the indian market...any ideas??
sandeep108
12-10-2004, 11:23 PM
Have not inquired about 512, but 256 in Heera Panna rs-mmc about 1600rs (hard bargaining, initial 1900rs). At the moment, just getting used to phone and still 36MB free on oem 64mb card, so will wait, prices can only come down... I also have a Palm T|E, which I use for mostly everything else, so cannot see any use as such for anything more than 64mb.
I was going to wait for 3230, but nothing much more than 6670/7610 except edge (which is in any case costing a bomb) and 1.3mp camera. -ve is 760mAH batt only. Again it will cost abt 23-26k when it comes out and right now sharp price drop of 6670/7610 was too tempting.
I mainly need phonebook/calendar, rest functions ok. But s60 big screen definitely very nice to do more things, like e-book reader, wap browsing, etc. as compared to 6610/6230 small screens.
As most people say, Nokia will never make a 'perfect' phone and most common functions and usability seems better than it's competition so it can easily afford it.
Edit: repeating myself...lol

i have just become a proud owner of 6670.
even though i still missed my old 6230.
still figuring out how to work the phone around, but what i dun like so far:
no auto-lock and the plastic key pad

u can always get an application installed for the auto lock thing.

No ... firmwares don't have those software pre-installed.
Those software are only pre-installed on the RS-MMC ...
I mentioned my firmware version 4.0437.4, because on the 7610 ... versions 4.0424.4 and onwards have the ability to set shortcuts to the D-Pad in standby mode
I ask because I'm thinking of getting the 7610, but I want those 2 application found in 6670.
Ok with me as long as they're bundled with the phone.
I was really staggering with the idea of getting the SKULL instead of 7610, now I know which one to go for. Thanks.

sandeep108
12-27-2004, 12:03 AM
I do not think anything is officially available from Nokia for 6670/7610. The dealer at Crossroads did not have any panels even. What is the point of paying 3 times the price for 'official Nokia'? And then also sometimes for panels/MMC cards may not carry any guarantee. I have always mostly used 'unofficial' for accessories and never been disappointed.

skarydevil: try foneman - though he is a good dealer, he will also guide you to good 'unofficial-original' accessories. I am not too sure about Andheri, though.
AFAIK prices have stopped their downward spiral and are about the same as in India. May be difference of $20-50 in official prices. Nokia have stopped their 2 year warranty from 15 nov.

well... i got the 6260 yesterday... it`s kinda big (but thinking of it, i come from p800 and Z1010, so it`s not THAT big).
You can keep the screen turned, and it will not look that big, actually it will look pretty interesting.
The OS is pretty good balanced, i compared it with a 6600 i have, and it works much faster, also the screen is brighter.
The bad thing in the 7610 is that you have no IR...
