i used to be a cingular customer but got extremely tired of the constant dropped calls and and my phone shutting off. i couldn't use it in my house or car without it disconnecting...so i switched to sprint and haven't had a single problem. can anyone explain to me why my phone was so crappy? :D

The phone itself, your area signal, general interference, could be a number of things.

Its not that GSM didnt work, CIngular didnt work. They have been known to have network problems. If theres T-Mobile where you live, you probably wouldve been very happy with GSM

yeah its Network problem for sure. may be their mobile tower is toooo much away from your home. having mobile phone booster antenna might improve signal quality.

The internal "boosters" that are nothing more than stickers simply do not and will not work. The problem with signal is your distance from the tower, but not only lack of signal from the tower. Your phones ability to transmit to said tower is probably the problem. The power is limited to a very low level since the radio source is held next to your head. If your phone can't transmit back to the tower then you can't have a quality conversation. If you want a real booster look into an external power amp in either 3watt or 5watt (illegal in the US) power ratings. Make sure it supports the frequency range of your carrier. Easy with Sprint and T-Mobile who use one frequency for their digital network - not so easy with Cingular and ATT (the New Cingular) who uses two different frequencies on their digital network. Then again you'll need a hardwired powersource, unless you want to put a car battery and the amplifier in a backpack and have a 4 foot antenna sticking up over your back - forget it. Just go with a carrier who happens to have good coverage in your area!
