Recommendations: T616 or others for Canada?

Hi everyone,

I am about to upgrade my cell phone, and am considering a couple of options. I have two requirements for the phone: Must do Bluetooth, and must support GSM 800 (or 850 if you prefer). Where I live in Canada, the 800 support is quite critical. I really like the design and BT features of the T616, but I am leary about the rf performance, as Micheal mentioned in his T610 review. I am not sure the T616 would be any better, and as of yet no word on a T630 for the NA market. I have been considering the S56, but I would really rather have a better screen. The T616 is an awesome device, but it doesn't do me any good if it is a crappy phone!

So opinions, T616 vs S56? I realize the V600 would be the best choice but no availability yet...

if i were you i would just wait till the nokia 6230 came out it should be out in few months which has every thing you need, i'v been looking for a phone and so far 6230 would be my phone when it comes out. 6230 will support the 850 in north america and canada, and 900 for the Europe. as far as the v600 goes i am going to take a wilde guess that it's going to be like the t720, so not even going to spend my time. good luck

The Nokia 6230 wont be out for a LONG time...nokia just announces there phones way too early. Also the v600 is a smartphone so its already totally different than the 720...dont compare them.

I don’t live in Canada, but if you must have a phone with Bluetooth and the frequency requirement you suggested, then you are limiting your choices of phones. I understand the frequency requirement, but I question the Bluetooth. Anyway, I would stay away from the SE T610/T616 (they are the same phone), because the RF reception is sub-par. A Nokia phone should do the trick; the SE Z600 is also a good phone; it is basically a clamshell T610, with a better screen/display and better RF reception. I don’t know all the features of every Nokia phone, but if you can find one the fits your requirements, get that phone. Man, I sound like a Nokia employee.
