Well I have been reading a lot about the SX1? There are some minor hiccup which I am prepared to overlook but the major one would be the problem with the USB connection to sync with the my computer. Maybe with the new firmware it would be better. Can anyone check this out? Thanks.

I cant sync with my computer (still awaiting for a reply from Siemens on the problem) running xp but quite a few people have no problems syncing, its looks like i'm unlucky i suppose
Forgot to say,i've got the latest available firmware 14 installed and even with my syncing problems i would still whole heartily recommended the sx1.

svn (fw) 06 is pretty old theres been 8 updates now and fw14 is the latest.

You can upload via your usb cable fw12 from siemens.com ,fw14 is not online yet.

Volume is a little bit louder in FW15.
System stability has been improved generally. It's mostly minor tweaks and bug fixes.

I just bought my black SX1 yesterday.:)
All I can say is... awesome.

Music sounds even better than on my sister's Creative MP3 player!
The screen is very sharp and clear, although I would like it a bit brighter.

It only hangs when I forget to close applications properly, and then launch new ones. It's like a PC, it'll hang if too many programs are running at the same time.

it looked great right> ? whr can we bu the miglia edition?

Ghibli

Yes it's gorgeous, and it feels great to hold except for back cover which is slightly loose and flimsy.

I think the Mille Miglia edition is even more exclusive than the McLaren one.

Yeah back cover looks too flimsy for a Siemens. And shaky. Using the keys, I noticed some pressure exerted on the LCD, esp with the No 6 key. Is this unusual or seen with all other SX1s. The LCD shows some waving at a particular angle when the keys are pressed with normal pressure.

The pressure of the keys and screen waving was reported by some users.......Was your set new?......I thought Siemens rectified this matter......

I've been considering the SX1 as well, but my concern is the camera...is it just as good as Nokia? I have a 3650 currently, and I must say picture quality is better than anything else other people have (considering this is the US), even compared to my friend's 1-megapixel motorola. Also, does the SX1 have themes or no?

BTW, I know I'm off topic, but does anyone have any info on the Sendo X? I mean, the phones are kind of closely related, and I was just wondering if I could get some input on it...

camera is almost the same as in 6600 or 3650,but viewfinder is more advance as it has full screen mode.
themes support is in svn15

My SX1 also has the 'ripple effect' on the screen when the '6' & '7' keys are depressed.
I was going to take it to Siemens to fix it but it appears to be present in all SX1s. I'm concerned the pixels in that area of the screen will burn out after a while.

No it is not. I recently upgraded to fw15 after running fw14, and all it introduces are:
-a louder speaker
-very slightly faster menu
-lots of hanging

i think u better visit siemens-mobile.org

I think you better get an SX1 and see for yourself.;)

The SX1 will never have themes; it is not supported by Symbian 6.1. No firmware updates will change that.

If it voids the warranty, then it doesn't count.

So, officially, the SX1 does not support themes.

Seen it on mine but i'm not duly bothered.

Ripple effect seems to be diminishing in that fewer keys seem to be causing it now, that i have been using it for a few weeks. The keys seem to be softening ( or so it seems to this individual)

This seems like a stupid question, but I have to ask...does the SX1 have an edit button? The Nokia S60 phones have the pencil button, but I don't see any buttons even similar to that. I'm asking because to be able to select and copy and paste is an important feature to me, as I used that feature a lot on my now defunct 3650...

Yes of course the SX1 has that button. After all, it runs the same OS.:) The "pencil" button is the arrow-up button on the SX1, located at the bottom-left of the phone.

OHHHHHH So that's what that buttons for! lol I know I posted this on other threads, but how is the battery life on the SX1? I heard on another website that in their review the battery only lasted for a day...can you verify that? Also, does either NetFront or Opera come installed with the phone? Someone said that NetFront was on theirs...

Ghibli
01-30-2005, 12:20 AM
No, neither NetFront nor Opera browser is included in the SX1 package, you'll have to buy it seperately.

I can get 3 days at a push with a few short calls or 2 days with normal use, listening to radio,mp3 etc.
You will find when you get the sx1 the battery only lasts a day or so,but after a few recharge cycles it does get better.
