Umm, after thinking about it so much I finally got it and have created this thread so that us 7610 owners can share what we like/ dislike about this phone. I for starters love the camera its absolutely mmm! And the keypad is not that bad. The only problem is that its getting scratched quite fast!

What i really dislike about my 7610 is the mono output and keypad layout(which was really uncomfortable for texting). What i like about this phone is good battery life(which i dont need to worry) and camera ,overall its a great phone had for about four+ months now.

The keypad I can bear but the lack of stereo output is really the saddest part!

@manav:
Do you have a pouch/container/carrying case for your 7610? I do, no scratches so far. Honestly, I'm a bit concerned with the camera lens that jutts out of the back part of the phone. I'd imagine it's the first thing that would hit the ground if the phone ever fell on its back so I usually keep my phone inside a carrying case.

I also carry a handkerchief around. It's the fastest and most efficient way of getting rid of all the smudges, blotches and oily fingerprints that appear on the phone's surface. Good thing the cover's express-on, so it can be replaced if needed though the replacement covers are pricey.

Yes it's mono but I've learned to live with it. Wav files take up too much space. It's better to use good quality mp3's for caller tones. To save even more space, the mp3's can be trimmed. I just set the volume to maximum to better appreciate the music. It's no mp3 player but at least you can carry some mp3's with you, depending on the size of your rs-mmc (I haven't changed mine yet).

Bluetooth is the most convenient way of transferring pictures and sound files phone to phone. For phone to pc, I prefer the datacable (which will only work if your windows xp is licensed).

Screen is vibrant. Still photos are very nice, video is not but that's ok. My brother explained to me that if the phone had megapixel quality videos, it would eat up too much memory.

I'm getting used to the keypad. It's definitely one of the most radically designed phones ever produced. Hard not to notice it even from afar.

My old phone was an 8250, so this phone is a big leap for me. I like it a lot.

Mono sound and no FM radio. But I can live with it
The scratches and dust ... GRRR

I'd have to point out though that the joystick is definitely easier (faster) to use than the d-pad. Once you get used to it though, using the d-pad isn't so bad.

I'm glad I listened to Michael's recommendation. I don't regret buying this phone one bit.

I used a Nokia 6600 before owning my current 7610. And I must say ... the 6600 joystick was crap! It got loose after about 3 weeks of using.

Maybe its because I use the phone too much? =/

Really, that's sad.

Even I used the 6600 before using this phone. And I also like to say that the joystick did become little free after so much usage but that was just me because I am fiddling with the phone whole day. I have started using a cover for this phone now don't have to worry about the scratches but the screen does get fingerprints and smudges very easily I have a white colored one and am really liking it now. I did not know that we can set mp3's as ringtones, (can we??) Lets see how it goes. I have to upgrade the MMC though other then that the phone is great. I wish it had EDGE.

well, overall the phone is great but I realized the phone runs quite slow compared to series 40 phones. (I owned a 7250i b4 this) This is understandable but I just wish that I could have the speed of a series 40 on the series 60.

i have to say one thing is that having symbian is so cool. I have a freakin guitar tuner on my phone! u just can't beat the convenience! hahaha.

Hi everyone, sorry for intruding on your 7610 thread :P I'm just wondering, how slow are series 60 phones? I've used a 6600 on several occasion and didnt really notice it, perhaps because i didn't use it for long. I've got a 7600 and i must say its pretty quick, even at full (127+ messages) the message inbox opens instantly, i was really amazed at this! however applications takes quite a while to open since i've got about 60 games on the phone.

I'm just wondering how this compares with series 60?

Yes, you can set mp3 files and wav files as ringtones in a 7610. Mp3's better as it takes up less space. You may want to trim your mp3's though, just get the parts you want, so you can load dozens of mp3's in your phone.

You can also load a lot of themes.

@Cyberdog: I don't understand it either. If you use grid view it's actually fast navigating through the phone. Perhaps they mean it's slow if you use the list view, so don't.

You can also customize the soft keys and the menu set-up so that your most used functions(whether messaging. contacts, camera, themes, etc.) can be easily accessed in a jiffy. You can even bundle them up in "Go to".

I've never owned a series 40 though. My old phone was a series 30.

Despite the few downsides ... the 7610 is a great phone overall.

(Pity Nokia couldn't make it perfect ...)

@nk au:
They'll never make a perfect phone. That way, consumers have a lot to choose from and perpetually spend money to buy new phones.

I'm really liking my 7610, compared to my sister's 6600, the 7610's so much faster and actually easier to use.

i really hope a new firmware will change the sound output from mono to stereo.............just like the early versions of the 6100 which did not support the stereo radio headset :(

Yea, but i think 6630 has 6x smooth digital zoom.

To tell the truth ... the only three reasons why I'm not getting the 6630 is:
1. The size of the 6630, and how bulky it is (a little too wide ...)
2. Don't like that fat tummy ...
3. Services for 3G (eg EDGE and Video Calls) might be extremely expensive in Australia
NB: GPRS is still friggin expensive! It cost me $32.50 to download a theme off Nokia.com!

darling, the S700 is slower than the 7610. S700 is a great phone, im so in love with it, but i just wish it was a smartphone. it's just not expandable enough, there is also VERY few J2ME application out there which hard to come by(and un-interesting). Symbian on the other hand is a different story, it's pretty much a standard nowadays, it's possibilities are endless.

I like the size, the design, Symbian 7.0, the included 64 MMC ( but i wish it would not be reduced sized ), the screen size and the communications capabilities ( Emails, opera browser , etc... ).

I dont like the quality of the pictures though. I really thought they would be better. Is there any 3rd party programs we can use so that the pictures look better ? Even if it must be in VGA size. For example, i keep getting a lot of garbage colours in a place in the picture where the color is uniform (?!!) . Cant get a real clean picture.
The night mode is great.
I dont like the video quality too. Using Camcorder Pro i could get better quality and customized videos.

i had the 7610 for about six months, and yes, the gloss black does get jacked up pretty quick. I had nothin but probs with mine...opera would never run right even after numerous reinstalls on the card and on the phone...my lifeblog also crashed, and after trying to reinstall it it could not read what was already on the mmc....my 6620 is a far superior phone in my eyes, the only drawback with it is the lack of megapixel which really does not mean jack to me.
