I was downloading mp4 video to my N-Gage QD and it told me that there is no enough memory so I cancelled the reception but everytime I try 2 open anything like profiles , tools It says the memory is full. So I switched of the phone and tried to open it again but everytime nokia logo appears and then the phone is turning of.
Please tell me what I can do urgently.
I appreciate all your advices.
Thanks
go to your nearest nokia shop and get the phone flashed.....there are some other ways like resetting the phone using *#7370# but since your phone isnt starting theres no way you could reset it....so flashing your phone is the best option..
What you see is the infamous White Screen of Death (you can find dozens of threads on the WSOD in the pertinent forums; check them out) caused by the phone's memory being cram-full so that it cannot boot. As advised by the previous poster, you have to go to a Nokia service center to get your QD reflashed.

I have seen this before on my 7650 but when I got the memory to 0Kb available, it booted but took about 10 minutes to start... you could try removing the sim card so it doesn't fully boot up and then erase the memory perhaps? *#7370# needs a sim card but the other method (I can't properly remember) doesn't I think...

I cann't understand what is meant by " flash the phone " , does it mean to download a new software or what ?
flashing means that the internal memory of the phone where your symbian os is located will be reset (basically reinstalled) so youll have a brand new os...

We have no Nokia service center in Sudan !!!!!!!!!
So is there is anything that I can do by myself?
U said that the problem is from the memory, so if I insert RS-MMC will it work.
Thanks

Hi, try a full phone format. Always works on my 6600 and seeing the QD is a series 60 phone it should be the same.
The following should be performed when the phone is powered down.
Press and hold the following 4 keys untill the word "formatting" appears in the screen then and only then can you release all the keys.
Green dial key
Hash #
Number Three (3)
Then hold down the power button and wait for the for the word "formatting" to appear before you release the buttons

OK, First things first. BACK UP YOUR PHONEBOOK, TONES, PICTURES AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU PUT ON THERE.
Step 1. Take the Sim card out and power down the phone.
Step 2. Press the green Dial Key, the hash key (#) and the number 3 all at the same time.
Step 3. Keep all these buttons pressed and do so until step 5
Step 4. Now press and hold the power button and wait for the phone to display "Formatting"
Step 5. Release all buttons
(little tip. Use your left thumb on the HASH key(#) and your left index on the green dial key. Then use your right thumb on the number three, thus leaving your right index finger to turn the phone on.)
After 1 min to 10 mins the phone will restart and will be factory fresh. Any messages, tones, pictures and games YOU installed on the phone will and I repeat WILL be lost. In other words the phone will be out of the box empty.
I will not be held responsible for any lost information due to formatting the phone. Do so at your own risk. (that just covers my ass). Let me know how it goes. Iain

If the QD doesn't boot, there is no way to do this (or do I miss something?).

I don't want to sound negative, but I would be surprised if this procedure worked to resolve the WSOD problem. Or put positively, if this procedure actually works, you should post it in all N-Gage/Symbian-related forums.

OK so thats a really good point about no being able to back up a phone that doesn't boot. Sorry.
I wouldn't know if it fixes the WSOD problem but it's sorted out the problems with my 6600 in the past.
Please let me know if this sorts out the WSOD problem.

So, maybe we should start to make this a thread to collect all the known methods that helped one or the other user to solve (a variant) of the WSOD. This is what worked for someone who posted his method in on allaboutngage:
1. Take out the battery of your QD.
2. Wait for several hours.
3. Put in the battery.
4. Boot (which will then be possible).
5. Quickly (!) remove some files from the internal memory.
His explanation was that some temporal files dissappear when the battery is removed for a long enough time. This will allow the device to boot (and you have to clear a space in the internal memory before these files are created again).
I know that this method did not work for some other users, but maybe you should give it a try if yaris' method does not work for you.

Not a problem Jetta. It was worth a shot though. hope you get your QD working soon.
i dont think youll be able to solve your prob using dre or yaris1001's technique.......your problem is with the internal memory not the battery and removing the battery dosent remove any files from the memory.......as i said the only way to get your phone repaired is by flashing it......if you dont have any nokia service centre in your country try a local cell phone shop......i am sure theyll be able to do it...
i had the same problem with my n-gage....couldnt get it repaired thru the nokia people cause the phone hadnt come out in india.....so went to a cell phone shop and got it flashed for 500 rs approx 10 $

Dear Anuj,
I went to a mobile shop and they told me that I have to download a new software. As they haven't N-Gage QD software they said that they will download 6600 software as it is the same as QD. Is this the flashing?
They will do that for 12000 S.D about 50$. What do u think about that ? Is it safe?
Thanks

Well, this sounds very strange, the 6600 runs a completely different version of the Symbian OS compared to the N-Gage QD. The 6600 runs V7.0 and the QD runs V6.1, plus the 6600 has additional features like IR and camera, which are not supported in the QD. The only thing I can see them doing is totally destroying your phone, and $50 is very expensive. You should find a proper Nokia Service Centre, and whilst you're there, tell them about this shop which suggested doing the 6600 firmware. Use Club Nokia to locate one.

It might be cheaper to attempt it yourself (get a data cable and upload new firmware - I'm not sure how you do this with Symbian phones because I don't know anyone who has, though I used to do it with older DCT3 phones) or locate another shop, but just don't use that shop. Anyway, the phone will still be under warranty, it should be free - I suggest you check all the local phone shops because one of them might send it to Nokia for you for free (be without it a few weeks but that's the price you pay...).

Looks like it needs to be posted there because that is a UK address... may take a bit longer to fix then.

From what I have read in this and other forums, I think there is no legal way to get a hold of the Symbian firmware to upload. (Again, not a very constructiuve remark, but maybe it helps nevertheless.)

As always, it is sticky ground because Nokia owns the firmware and its copyright, but there is nothing (practically) to stop you getting a working N-Gage QD, downloading its firmware then reuploading it. I think it gets difficult legally when you start patching/hacking it (because it counts as reverse engineering). You may also have to worry about checksums, because if you upgrade the flash you need to generate a new checksum for it or it won't initialise. At least, that has been the case in the past.
doing it urself will cost u a fortune....nearly 200 $ cause you need to some equipment....try http://www.ufsx.com/ or http://www.gsmdevice.com/products/griffin.htm.....you could instead buy a new phone...
