Nokia 6260 out??!!

I checked nokia's site just now and the 6260 no longer has the "coming soon" status!!

Does anyone know when it will become widely available or has anyone seen it already or have it?

In the Philippines, the phone is already posted at Smart's website. It's around $460 US.

i doubt it. initial prices are always lower than the actual release price. my guess is it's going to be at least £350 (just to add a bit more confusion by mentioning another currency :) )

Hmm, if I got a T630 on T-Mob upgrade, then sold that for like £110 and then sold my used T610 for £40-£60 that would give me £150-£170, how much would I have to add to that, how much would the 6260 be sim-free? (Sucks being a poor kid!)

Edit: I know I said I was going to get a S700, but after thinking about what do I want more, symbian/1.3mp cam, symbian just seemed more useful, and a VGA Cam is still pretty useful, as I won't need picture any bigger than that for printing or doing stuff with really, I'm deciding currently wether to get a 6600 or 6260, I might have to wait a couple months whichever phone I decide to buy. :(

Um, I'm not sure, it doesn't cost that much to add a camera module for a phone, but I guess once it's added it adds value to the phone as well...

@francisofarabia: the phone is posted at Smart's website. It's www.smart.com.ph. I'm not sure, but I think you may be able to pre-order the phone if you are an existing subscriber or if your applying for a new line. They probably posted it since lately it takes a long...long...long...long while for them to release a phone unit. If you apply now, by the time your application gets approved, the 6260 would probably be already available.

6260 is now available both on globe and smart here in the philippines. globe priced it at P21,680. just hope i could get one ASAP

Globe hasn't announced it yet. The phone can be seen at smart's website, as posted above.

I honestly like this phone's design, particularly the coffee black one. Astig talaga (this phone rocks).

I would have been happier with a lower keypad placement, with a thinner girth and if it had a megapixel camera (trust me, when you see the quality of the pics, you'll never go back to cif or even vga again, though vga is acceptable).

Sadly, I can't have both phones. That would be a waste of my hard-earned money.

We all know nokia will never make a perfect phone so that we'd keep buying from them. For me, I'll stick with my 7610 for about 3 years or possibly more.

Nice to see another South African on the boards.

I also want to get the 6260 when it comes out. But South Africa will not see it this year. Only on Wednesday was the Nokia 7610 released (mine is being delivered on Monday). And how long has it been out in the UK?

In South Africa, we take our sweet time with getting the new phones. So don't expect the 6260 to be out before the end of the year, but if you plan to get it overseas then that would be your best bet.

It is available almost immedaitely in india now a days but when 7650 was released it was available here after a year (more than a year :D ) but 7610 was available 3 days after the nokia press release said 7610 has started shipping that very nice!!

I don't think you can get it any earlier than next week... I am also anxious to get it... if you're not signing up for any mobile plans, then i guess you can get it cheapest from yahoo auctions.. some sellers are taking orders now and will order direct from Nokia i think. But if you want to get it cheaper, sign up a mobile plan... I guess M1's prices are quite cheap compared to Singtel and Starhub. :)

However I just read abt some bad points in 6260, about the bad thing that the utility buttons are on the top flap of the phone and that its inconvenient etc... duno whether its true...

But comparing the display size, 6170: 128 x 160 pixels; mini: 96 x 65 pixels
6260 176 x 208 pixels, 6230 128x128 pixels

Still happy to get it, somemore the quickword and quickpoint (MS word/powerpoint) can be synchronised with the computer, so its very convenient. Can't wait for it to arrive...

noo way!! the 6170, might be a bit smaller and have an external screen.. but its only series 40 and it doesnt have anything special about it.. not even an FM Radio!! if ur thinking of getting this, then id recommend the 7270, <- its got 32mb of memory and it supports aac/mp3/midi tones, plus it look sooooooo good.. id give it an award for the best looking flip phone interior..

Wow... yeah man... but does it support chinese text input? I didn't like phones with no chinese text interchangeable cos when someone send a chinese message it'll appear as #(*%^*&%)$@#*$..... and i won't be able to send chinese message to my parents... : ). If it has, I'll most probably try to get one of that beautiful 7270 when it comes out!

i dont really like how the V3's top flip is three quarters the size of the bottom flip.. it makes the phone look weird..

No, the 6260 is far way better than the 7270. The 7270 is not symbian phone and doesn't support MMC cards.
