Hey guys. I need to buy a DVD writer for archiving my photos that I shoot for the site.

650MB CDs just don't cut it any more.

Any of you guys able to recommend a good DVD burner? Internal and USB v2.0 (or even firewire) drives are all fine. I'm just looking to find something economical that has a decent storage capacity. I'm not going to be watching movies and all that on it, I already have a DVD drive and a CDR drive, so I am just mostly interested in disk capacity and value.

Thanks.

Hmm, when I bought mine, there were no DVD players that supported two-layer DVD, just single layer, although I'm not sure wether any have been released, I think the majority of drives take 4.7GB disc's. I won't bother reccomending mine as I got it a year ago at least I think, so there's probably some much better ones out now.

Having Tried both Plextor and LG by now, I'd say take the Plextor, specialy that they burned at 8X on DVD+R 4X rated Memorex Blanks, my plextor max at 8X, the LG says 12X DVD+R but it can't burn faster than 4X on those same Blanks. Plextor has the new 12X drive of theirs, get that. As for me I will get another Plextor after I got disappointed with LG.

Michael, for Plextor you pay a premium true, but it's worth every penny. You will be happy.
