When i transfer mp3's from my computer to my nokia6600 using pcsuite, it first converts it to a .wav file. How can i stop this from hapening?

Not sure what connection method you are using to your 6600 but if it's Bluetooth or IR, transfer as normal and then use a file explorer to extract the MP3 from the mail folder (inside the C drive) - you may run up against a size barrier if you do this (440Kb I think) but also make sure you have enough free memory on the device's internal memory.

Best method is to pull out the MMC and dump the MP3 directly on that, with card readers so cheap now, there's no excuse.

PC Suite won't transfer MP3s because the phone doesn't have the technical capability to play them back.

Either way, note that MP3s actually sound terrible - the only advantage of this is that you can convert them to 16kHz mono files (about 1/8 normal MP3 file in size) with no quality loss.

the phone cannot play mp3's natively... it converts it to wav because that's the format the phone's player supports. If you want to play mp3's as mp3's... use a 3rd party app, like UltraMP3, for example. Or install and use OGG player - which I think sounds better.

cheers!
