Formatting the RS-MMC card for Nokia 7610?

Hi everyone!

Does anyone know how to format the RS-MMC memory card for Nokia 7610?

I have tried to format it through the phone under "extras/memory/options/format mem. card", however does not seem to delete any of the files!

I have read some ppl here talking about a "green"+"3"+"*" format which apparently formats the phone all together. I do not want to do this to my phone, for the fact that I do not want to lose my contacts.

Is there any other way of formating my memory card, without have to format my phone?
If not, is there a way saving my contacts so I can use them again after the phone format?

What you did on formating your memory card is 100% right. The reason why you would see some KB used from your memory card after fromatting is because the used space are System files that would enable your RS-MMC to work with your phone.
