can anyone tell me how i can update the firmware of my 6230 ? i have version 3.15 and i've heard the latest version is 4.28. can it be done thru software ?

you need special software.
cannot be done with normal downloaded soft.

4.28 has many faults

I've never owned one but from feedback I've heard the Nokia 6230 has so many bugs. Isn't there any way to correct them?

I like the phone's size and weight, and am not bothered by its relatively smaller screen. I'm just worried that if I get this phone, it will just keep on hanging on me.

what special software do we need to upgrade the firmware?

i have been using 6230 for the last 5 mths and it is great. some bugs here and there and my phone even broke down after the 1st wk i bot (phone failed to power on) but that did not stop me from using the phone

what bugs are you talking about???!!! i have used 6230 for almost 6 mon now and i have not even upgraded the old 3.14 fw version that i have, i use BT, ir, mp3, cams, radio, i got 128MB MMC, i use it for everything adn it just deliver...

4.28 is available for upgrade on nokia centers... i have heard there is even 4.48, i think... but why upgrade if it aint broken...

initially when i just got my 6230.... caller group wouldnt work...everytime i tried to hit the button it would just go back to main menu...but that was fixed when i sent back to nokia for servicing.

other than that.... no major problem... and i still like my phone very much

In your experience, does the 6230 ever hand on you assuming you'll just use it for sms and voice calls? Is it easy to transfer mp3 files from your computer to your phone?

i you would have read our post, u dont even have to to the nokia service center to fix that particular bug, it can be fixed by simply doing the factory reset, this was with v3.14...

no you are absolutely correct... just do a factory reset and it will fix the problem.... i went to the service centre coz the phone failed to power on so might as well get them to fix everything for me.. i should be clearer in my earlier post

i used a card reader to transfer mp3 and that is really easy... just plug it in your pc and copy the files

for the record, someone already got V. 4.43... and m still in 3.14...

My firmware has a bug, i have to reboot the phone before i can choose another m3u list, also i need 2 reboot the phone before the newly uploaded m3u will show up in the list.

Anyone know if this problem has been fixed ?

ok, so what exactly are the bugs that come with the V4.28? so far with mine, I've already encountered the "change outgoing line" appearing at the GO TO menu even tho I've erased it time and time again. Is that really supposed to do that? Especially when I turn my phone off then on again. Another thing that happened to my was when I placed another SIM and returned my old SIM, all the portrait pictures on contacts were either reshuffled or erased. Are there more?
