I have a 7650 and want a new phone. I want to buy a Pay As You Go or a Sim Free handset. I have been looking at the Sharp GX20 and have fallen in love I think. But your input and comments would be welcomed.

I don't make many calls or txts and need a camera phone. I don't need a radio or mp3's, but would still consider a phone with these features.

You'll find this question being asked all over these forums. Have a look through the subject headings of each thread until you come across one that matches your question- you'll find your answers. I know it's a long thing but it pays to do a little homework. (I sound like a f**king teacher. Sorry.) But it's true, everything you wanna know are in these forums.

...<sigh> Ok, OK, I'll answer your question for you!

If you have no interest in backing up your data on a PC, or sharing data with your mates through the IR, or couldn't give monkeys about Bluetooth, then the Sharp GX-20 is the one for you. You'll love it. It does everything else very well.

Alternatively, you could go for the Nokia 6600 which should get released in the next week or 2. This is basically your 7650 but in an upgraded form (i.e. it's a 7650 with web-browser, mp3, video out the box, memory expansion, & Bluetooth). Have a look through the forums for pictures of it next to other current phones for a size/look comparison.

You just want a simple, small-ish camera phone- nothing fancy?
The Nokia 7250i (http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,33605,00.html) . It's been around for a while so should have dropped in price.

That should do ya...

You do sound like a teacher, but thanks for your info!

Is it just me or does the Nokia 6600 look a little ugly?

Little is an understatement.

Have a look at the P800/900 while you are at it too.

The P800/900 are also ugly in this girl's book! The flip buttons? I mean what is that all about!

oh yeah, Sony Ericsson Z600 should be out soon too. Another I'd recommend is the Sony Ericsson T630 (updated T610) but that'll be a little longer in getting released.

So many good phones to choose from. Aren't you lucky...

Variety is the spice of life as they say. But too much variety makes me mad! Its crazy trying to find a mobile that fits what you want and looks good!

I like the 7650, but nobody else I know has it and where I live carrying that big thing around is like sticking a sign on my forehead saying 'Rob Me! Please!'

What about the Samsung V200?

Past its sell-by date.

As has the Panasonic GD-87 and the Sharp GX-10 (inc. the GX-10i) in case you were wondering. Decent phones, though. They do their job. Nothing special or impressive. Should be cheap to buy.

ooh ooh, just had a thought!
no.., no it's gone... ... ...

That's it!

Look into Samsung's E-700. Just been released. Held it once, felt good. Small, neat, compact, no aerial poking out. Nice new alternative to the V200.

Now sing with me in a whiny, high-pitch voice:
I don't know what I'm thinking 'bout, really leaving with yoooou...

Thats an interesting one, I dunno what to think of its looks. Thats a 50/50 one in my book.

I really want to find a Sharp GX20 that is Sim Free or Pay As You Go, then I can put my Virgin Mobile Sim in.

GX 20! Now all I need are free ringtones, screensavers and wallpaper!

Um, controlling the phone? :) You can take the flip off if you want, and the P800 especially looks better without it, but they're a lot more useful on - means you can use the phone one-handed without getting fingerprints all over the screen.

So they DO have a use! Wow...I stand corrected.
