The reason only few people will get this phone is cause its stricly business, in the sense that its not a fashion phone so most people either wont get it because of the size or the price.

I guess it will be around $900-$1000 unsubsidised, of course it'll be much cheaper with a contract.

Most people won't want anything like the 9500. As I've said before, it's not really a phone at all.. it's a tiny wireless computer that also makes phone calls. I *might* get one.. and that's because I have more of a need to have decent web access on the move than making phone calls.

As for the screen - you really can't sell a difference betweek 64K and 262K colours - the only reason that 262K screens are becoming popular is that it's actually easier to write applications for an 18 bit display over a 16 bit display (3 channels of six bits each).

Its going to be extremely useful for those business users who need everything with a comfortable KB. ( at least one thats sizable to type on) I know Michaels review stated the 9290 was better, I seemed to feel the rubberyness of the 9290 slowed me down a bit. I would have bought this if I wasnt to upset with Nokia for other reasons. Othereise, I would have loved this - but they dont deserve my busines.

Anyway, Id still love to hold it in myhand and see what Im missing :-P

the main reason i am buying this phone because of its web browser, QWERTY keyboard, and mp3 player.

the other reason being that girls are attracted to people with nokia communicator :D :D

the 9500 available has everything, it doesnt seem like a prototype. i have played with it and everything works. but the price is above rs.50000.

Ooh, lots of pics will be nice as well. Um, just converted rs.50,000. That's a lot, though it's cheaper than I thought it would be.

If this is true (and it does make perfectly good sense by the way, I always wondered this too), then why did we skip 15-bit screens (i.e. 32K colour - 5 bits per RGB channel)? Surely they would've been a good stop-gap, significant advance over 4K (12-bit) colour but less power consumption and cost than 262K colour devices? Add to that the fact that normally to see small colour differences you'll need stronger backlighting and that will adversely affect battery life too - a bit like the Samsung D410.

Not buying a Nokia product because you don't like some of their other products or ways of doing business? Heh.. let me guess.. you are not using any Microsoft products either? ;-)
