Hi guys! Sorry if this topic has been discussed before but what I've read from www.mobile-review.com is the developers of Symbian Series 60 is going to come up with a new feature pack 2. Currently the Nokia 7610 is feature pack 1. Is such feature pack upgradable just like OSs?

hmm...i dunno...ill try to find out. is this mobile reviews first review on 7610? wierd...cos they did s700 cam ages ago before its released....just read their review...hmmm most i dont agree with, i dont think they even used it properly. oc u can send photos via mms, whatever size it was to begin with the phoe shrinks it. "it is impossible to send a photo via MMS from Nokia 7610 in many networks because of the limitation on the size of an outgoing message in 45 KB. "

I think its probably has to do with it's origin. It's a Russian based mobile review website so I guess it reviews whatever phone is release there and then in Russia. Amazing they did a review on Motorola's Razr V3 already when it is not out yet! ( ) I like that website. It's reviews are well done and seldom lacking in information. :)

Another website is http://www.threegmobile.net/international/index.html. It's more asian based so it's quite up-to-date for the Asia Pacific people. It just announced that Nokia is poised to reveal more new fashion phones in Mid Sept. Maybe they'll reveal more details on 6670. Ha! :D

By the way Jose, what do people in the forum mean when they say that the phone is 'unlocked'? Seldom read thread that say unlocking 7610. Why?

unlocked means that the phone can use any sim card. Normally your networl will lock ur phone to prevent u using competitor sime cards. They often warn that if you try to use an unlocked Phone with foreign (as in not of that designed network not simply overseas) it will bar the phone.

I hope feature packs are upradable but it doesnt seem likely as it says that they are designed for specific phones, and having FP3 in 7610 might not be very useful as "functions may be not realized in a certain device". not v sure but thats wot i think

I guess they should make the OS be patchable, unless the phone manufactors out there are evil business minded freaks ( ) that wants us to buy new phones eveytime there's a new OS out. I mean, not having the new functions doesn't manner but maybe it improves the speed of the OS a little by better programming?

Damn... I hope there will be new phone manufacturers that really produce an all in one pheriperals phone: 3.5mm earphone jack, MMC card slots, bluetooth, IR, speaker phone, etc just like a PDA. You know what I mean? Common input/output pheriperals. Not like a PDA that pretends to be a phone but a proper phone that pretends to be like a proper PDA. With upgradable OS!

But I guess I can only carry on and sing. "All I have to do, is dream dream dream..." for now. :(

Oh yah, maybe some kind phone manufacturers may consider using Toshiba's mini harddisks too to replace the MMC card slots.. Oh no! And be like Apple coming out with 20, 40Gig models? Haha.. Now that's what I call 'Dreaming'! :p

m not sure also, but try forum.nokia.com, from what i can remember, the feature packs are specific for apps/games development, that why i say try to go to froum.nokia to get the specifics...
