The dust on the screen (under the faceplate) is pissing me off.

How do I clean it, and place the faceplate back on ... without any extra dust and fingerprints?

Dunno why, but it just pisses me off. Maybe its because im a perfectionist

Don't know how to take off and put on the faceplate, but don't clean it with facial tissues, because that just attracts more dust. Instead, use a cloth that's used to clean eye glasses.

get a synthetic material cloth, rub it on some wool, to get some static and hover it over the screen. Or u can just buy those ready static wipes. Dont Blow over them..ull put moisture on it(from your breath and perhaps even spit) The dust should just lift up of the screen, if it is just dust.

i think best thing to do is dont use any cloth period. i used a spectacle cloth and even that screwed my 6230 housing screen up. to a point i bought another cover. the best is to get a high pressure camera cleaner air gun, its just a compressed can of air, then blast the crap out of your housing. besides that i think you gota buy a new housing. if u do buy another one buy a transparent plastic case for the phone.

I used my mum's "Camera Lens Cleaner", and used it to clean the screen-viewer area under the faceplate. It removed most of the dust.

I guess the world can't be 100% perfect (unfortunately) ...

Thanks for your replies guys! (PS: Thanks Jose RAM ... never knew about that 'breath' thing!)

lol, yeah ok, but hovering the cloth doesnt make any contact with the screen. It just pulls things up...like magic.

yea, but if the dirt is like stuck on the screen static isnt gona do anything unless its electromagnetically charged for more power. ive had alot of stubborn dirt that didnt even come off when i scrubbed it

thats how i do it- but once u get dust in there.. there'll always be dust in there. i've come to realise that.. so i avoid taking off faceplates.

Yeah, I dont know why i took the facia off my 7610. everytime im outside u can see specs of dust on the screen (only visible in natural day light) its not so noticable that id want to open it up and static them off. I wrecked my 7610 trying to clean it....Best advice ive learnt is...NEVER TAKE IT OFF...NO POINT REALLY UNLESS UVE BROKEN AND NEED TO REPLACE.

cool, is that the name of the place? The attachemnt is the photo of the building i was talking about. It was really clear since it was taken on a nice day, with a KODAK APS CAM, but since the scanner is not on my pc, I have used my phone to take pics of it...it looks real awful, all misty but anyway thats the gold building i was on about.

I'm finding it quite hard to take the faceplate off my 6230, is there any tips for me on taking it off?

DEViANT

Yeah, on a 6230, pull from the top silver bit forward, and HARD. It is tight, so be careful not to break it.

Best way to remove dust is an air blower (i.e. compressed air in a can) - take the cover off and just blast the dust away then quickly reattach it. You're going to have to clean it every month or so anyway, that rubber seal, it's a seal at all, dust always finds its way into my N-Gage and 6230.

The cover on the 7610 (can be easily taken off) isn't tightly sealed, thus (obviously) definitely allows dust through. Hmm ... where can I get a compressed air can in Australia? ^o)

Damn. Now I have to be careful for scratches. Already have a few on my new ruby faceplate :'(

wow deviant is dominating the new threads.

told ya compress can was the best

with 6230 cover u got to learn the best wy to take it off, i hated its guts so badly at first but just got to push and slide upward. afterawhile itll be fairly easy. this is the back cover btw, the front cover uve got to be a lil persistant but do it slowly so u dont snap it.

yeh the back cover i can do pretty easy, im just finding the front really hard (not taken it off yet) and scared it might just snap off

Get one of those aerosol cans with pressurised air, they use them for cleaning PCs... spray it on the screen, no mess and all clean.

Hey, the best way is to get some scotch magic tape and stick it somewhere a couple of times to get rid of extra stickyness then stick it one section at a time rubbing it on then peeling it off. I used to work at a phone shop and this is what they did, pretty nifty, comes out like new :D

Sounds like a good idea, I'll have to give that one a try. I hate air blowers personally, cos for a tin of air, £5 for about 2 minutes of continuous flow is very expensive, either that or get an electric blower (harder to find than you'd think).

Those people who sell Screen Protectors for phones ...

Do those things actually work? Or do they just collect a lump of dust around the edges (due to the sticky bit) ...

DEViANT
09-07-2004, 04:27 AM
They're only meant to protect against scratches but in essence, I find just being careful is the best thing as the protectors deflect so much light it can become really irritating.

Hey. Yeah, what I really hate about them is when one manages to get bubbles trapped under the screen protector. Plus I put mine on my p900 and now the touchscreen isn't as sensitive, quite a hastle when handwriting recoginitioning -_-" :S.
