here's the V1 codes. I used V1 codes on both of my 6340i's from Cingular and they worked fine the first time... If they don't work after 2 tries, quit and post back...

Hey McHale, havn't seen you in a while. So anyway I've got a question, when does one know to use v1 or v2 codes? I get confused...

hey cdover, how ya been? Been lurking but forgot about the forums for a while as I worked on other stuff...
As far as v1 and v2 is concerned, the school of thought is, v2 is more reliable. In fact, many of the new calculators don't even do v1 (why, I have no idea). But I have seen where one works and the other doesn't. On my 6340i's (I have 2), my 6800's (I have 2), my 6820 (just 1), and a few friend's phones, v1 worked.
I read on unlockme.co.uk (I think that was the site) the difference between v1 and v2 and why v2 was preferred. On the newer phones, I'm using the v2 codes but some of the older ones I just go with the v1 and cross my fingers. Haven't been let down yet.
Now if anyone knows how to yank a FW off of a phone, I have an unlreased FW for the 6800 that simply rocks. Fixes all the problems the phone ever had and makes it basically a 6820 minus the camera.

:), great thanks :).
So it's just a matter of luck then? I tried to unlock a 7610 lately, and apparantly the v1 codes worked, rather than the v2s. Weird huh. Oh well, thanks anyway. See you around...

thanks. it worked just great. btw, this phone, with cingular nationwide gait service (east coast) gives good service here in alaska. seems there are at least 3 major local cell service providers, each of them with their own turf and therefore limited. however, cingular must have agreements with all of them since i get service in all cell phone coverage areas, no matter whose tower it is.

My mistake. The person was talking about not using asic 2, and they had used asic 7. :S

The codes are personalized for each individual phone...you cannot use unlock codes for another phone for your phone! Each one is calculated from your phone's unique IMEI, or serial number, thus it'll be different from any other phone, regardless of model or carrier!!! What you should do is to call Cingular, although I doubt they'd help you with this kind of stuff, or just get a new phone. I'm guessing you too have the 6340i, so it's about time to upgrade anyways:D
