Well folks, the 7610 is a great phone I love it...until now when I get this constant screen flickering and distortion which seems to go away a few minutes after I restart. The first time it happened I hoped it was a minor bug, but now it seems to have returned several days later. I think it is some hardware fault which will cost big bucks to fix.

I bought it off eBay a couple of weeks ago. The phone is brand new and sealed Australian version. Normally, I buy from dealers but he was honest and had great feedback. It's not stolen or anything as I have checked. The guy reckons he won it as a prize so he didn't give me a proper shop receipt with an ABN (Australian Business Number) on it. Of course Nokia won't repair it without proof of purchase with an ABN on it, even though it is a local version. Bottom line is I think I'm screwed unless he sorts it out for me.

However, before I chase him up about it, I was wondering what the factory reset codes are for this phone? Keep in mind I don't want to do anything to damage it further. Yes I realise it's prolly a hardware problem but I figured it's work a try.

Anybody else had this type of problem with a Nokia or been stuck in this situation?

Anyway, thanks in advance!

The default factory reset code is 12345 in all nokia phones.
I always tell people do not buy new mobile phones from e-bay, as one of the things that u'll mostly miss is the warranty which it helps u repair your phone.

Errr 12345 is just the lock code.
It has a local warranty I just need a receipt I suppose.

Are there any other shops you can go to, besides the Nokia care centres, where they can fix your phone? (Without proof of purchase et cetera.).

For my sister, it led her 7610's screen to fully stuff up. It was actually (what I believe) the layers of the LCD 'seperating' due to poor build quality. This required a trip to Nokia and $160aud to replace the dodgy LCD... and if your out of warranty, just pay. If you pay upfront it only takes 1 hr- if you don't, it can take upto 2 weeks or so.
