hey, i recently got a k700i from abroad and i am now back in scotland now. i am quite new to this so wonder if you guys can help me with a few things.

is it possible for me to connect my k700i with the pc to transfer files (eg videos)? and do i need to purchase any stuff to do it...?

how do i get mp3's onto the phone?

also recieving picture messages... am i able to view it straight off with the phone or do i need to look at them online?

one last thing; what can i do with bluetooth? and is it possible to send files (videos) from my pc to my phone using it?

thanks

for that phone, you should just get a bluetooth adapter. That way you can access the phone wirelessly from your computer. you can swap all the pictures and ringtones that way

just go to a computer store and tell them you need a bluetooth adapter, it should cost between $20-$50. if you have a mac you can do really cool stuff with it, if you have windows you can do less, but it's still a great thing to have

oh yeah, you should be able to transfer video's too... I think that phone has a folder for them, though I don't really know for sure

if you have a mac you can get this program called "Salling Clicker". It does a lot of stuff. You can use the phone as a remote for the computer's DVD player, itunes, I think you can use it as a mouse too. It has a feature were you can make it so your comptuer knows when you come back home (with the bluetooth) and it can open your email, and set to avalible on aim, and start playing music... it's fun stuff

You should be able to 'browse' the phone (If I'm not mistaken) via OBEX file transfer. You can simply drag and drop files into it using a BT USB adapter

On of my teahers had a T610 and a mac and he could controll powerpoint-presentations with it. I guess you can do the same with K700.

d link and belkin both make good adapters. I've seen both in the US for 20 or 30 dollars... which both exchange to under 20 pounds these days.

by default you can use the k700 as a remote control for media player, powerpoint and even the mouse for the computer through bluetooth, without using any software (assuming you have bluetooth already running smoothly on the computer that is).

for the k700 and most other SE phones (except the P series) check this great software out: http://fma.sourceforge.net/

tried the other software angus suggested, still doesnt even let me connect my phone without entering a passkey which i dont know where or how to find it.

this is the dongle i got off ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=44796&item=5718626355&rd=1 not sure the make. just says CE FC then "made in taiwan" :( so not sure. where can i get the passkey?

a passkey is just a number you make up but have to enter on both devices e.g.
you are prompted to enter a passkey, enter a number and submit it, then on the other device when prompted for the passkey you enter the same number again on it

can't easily make out the model of that dongle sorry, hopefully it comes with the Widcomm Bluetooth drivers, do you know have a little Bluetooth icon in your system tray (beside you clock)?

if so when you right click on the Bluetooth Icon one of the options is 'Advanced Configuration', click the 'Local Services' Tab and make a note of the Bluetooth Serial COM Port - you may need to select this port with any software that requires a Bluetooth Serial Port connection...

I just bought a K700i, i got myself a bluetooth dongle a coupla days b4 i got the K700; it's D-Link (i got it for RM10, dun ask where; it's new) the first time i tried with it today it worked very well ! But my friend who bought the same one wasn't that lucky, he's using N-Gage (well i guess Nokia's BT sucks rite?)
passkey for phones are '0000' for other peripherals try '0123' or '1234'

when initiating a pairing from a phone the passkey can be any number you want - it's a one time passkey you can make up and use on both devices

other peripherials may require a particular key 'hard coded' but that isn't too common and will be given in the manual or label on the device

another situation to note when pairing from a PC (WIN XP SP2) or MAC OS X you may be provided with a random passkey to use for that pairing process

can you remove the pairing and set it up again? the passkey is usually a "one time" numerical password so you just choose any number and input it on both devices when prompted

The passkey is "0000" for the K700i. However you normally find that the software you got with the dongle generates a passkey for you. That is if you got software with it?

With the k700i no matter what you are sending/receiving with bluetooth to either pc or another phone you must pair it. Go to connectivity/bluetooth/my devices/add new device. Make sure your dongle is connected and enter "0000" or whatever the software generates and once the devices are paired your all set to send and receive.

On your question of whether it can play videos. They have to be MP4's or 3GP's, bearing in mind that it only has 41mb of memory.

Let me know how you get on?

Actually it's not fixed to "0000" when initiating a pairing, the first time prompted on entering a passkey, u can enter any code u want, and the other device will enter the same code; this is to make sure both parties new each other in person and hence it is a secure pairing.

yes u can even enter a single "0" for the passkey as long as the other device also enter the same.
