Does anyone know if there are non-unlockable 3650's? I got a weird problem - I remove SIM card, boot till it says "Insert SIM card" and try to enter unlock code, but it doesn't let me type p, w and +. It just keeps entering * no matter how fast I type it. I tried it on my friend's 3390 and it works as it should (double * becomes +, etc).

Could it be a sign of too many unlock attempts? Ot maybe network provider changed firmware to disable the remote unlocking?

Perhaps the sim card i faulty? Has it been stored away for a long timie? Over exposure to the sun, I believe, can damage it...

Unlocking is supposed to be done without sim card. Even if it was broken, it wouldn't matter since it was not inserted ;)

If one tried to unlock a Nokia (perhaps others also) more than five times without succession, it will render the phone unlockable.

[edit] Ohhhhh, I just missed out the bit where you said "I took the sim card out..." Sorry.

I know it, but I thought it would allow to enter unlock code, but give error message at the end. Or do some models not allow to enter code at all after 5 unsuccessful attempts?

I don't actually know if anyone tried to unlock this phone before, all I know is that it is currently locked and unlock procedure doesn't work because I cannot enter "pw+"...

if you try unlocking 5 times and it becomes "unlockable" ... can you send the phone back to nokia to get it reflashed or unlocked?

im only curious because i want to get a 6620 that is locked for att and get it unlocked for my t-mobile plan... but i dont want to mess the phone up.

My experience has been, once you try 5 times, thats it. Nokia told me they couldnt help me, as did T-mobile. Although this was a hypothetical question I proposed to them, I took their word for it.. because Ive never messed up unlocking a phone.

I would check ebay for unlucking the nokias... or do a google search. I have always been successful in that way.

Once... I called Tmobile and told them I wanted to unlock a N3650 so I could let my sister use it, on ATT, then I would take it back from her, and she would get jealous and want to switch to Tmobile - because ATT didnt offer that phone (yet). That worked.. Silly reps.

You are better off serching ebay, google for information, and finding an IMEI code generator for your phone.

Good luck :)

When one has entered 5 wrong unlock codes the phone is not unlockable with codes alone. You should still be able to unlock it, but with cables...

Yup. Um, I know not of anyone who you can send it to who has the cables (although ofcourse there's someone). Just be prepared if you need to buy the cables yourself.
