Yepp same as my mum - your best bet is to take her to the phone shop and pick a phone based on the tarriff and ease of use. I'd stick to Nokia for ease of use. My mum can now send and recieve SMS - wow - this is progress.

Check the following:

Nokia 3100, 6610, 7210.

Another really basic phone is the samsung C100.

Everything else either has cam, mp3 and a hoard of other stuff.

hehe... My grandpa had a Nokia 5110 when he's 73 and he never sent any coz he didn't know how to. Now, he's 81 and he sent me an SMS 2 days after i bought him a SE Z200.

P.S. People should throw away the Dead Idea of Nokia being the only easy phone to use. Nokia is one of the latest to adaptors to the 9 or 12 icon menu UIs which is proven to be the most intuitive UIs and currently adapted by most manufacturers nowadays.

Yes, my Mum loves her 3310, she knows how to use it pretty well, but now she's gotten used to the X100A I gave her, and she's pretty quick with both now :). I guess you get used to phones after a while, no matter how difficult they are.

The T230 is great. Though I think the screen is too small - my Mum's eyesight is failing...

my mam has the 6310i and 7600 - took me quite a while to teach her how to use them both, she didnt have a clue at first. now she's sending photos and using her bluetooth headset - all by herself, they grow up so fast don't they ! *tear wells up in eye* :D

Wow really?? Darn, that's fast. I taught my mum how to sms, and call, and that's about it...she can look for names in the phonebook though, found that out by herself!:).

wow, they really grow fast.... but i don't bother teaching my mum. My last TV set, we've used it for about 13 years and till the day we dumped it... she's still not sure of how to use it. But, i had a grandpa who listens to MiniDisc, ask me to burn MP3 operas.... imagine that -- MP3 Pavarotti...

maybe a 3100 or a 3200?

My mom has a 3100 - always gets a kick when it rings, coz of the rythmic lighting effects! At first, she was just texting and calling, now she wants all sorts of ringtones and wallpapers, hehehe.... :D

Anyway, the phone is pretty small, very handy, and has more than 2 days of standby time. And if the casing gets scratched or if she drops the phone, she can very easily change it herself. In fact, from time to time, she changes it just to suit the occasion, or the clothes she's wearing.

:)

cheers!

maybe a 3100 or a 3200?

Id recommend the 3100, i had one for 7 months and its great phone, but i definitely DONT recommend the 3200, especially to someone that isnt very good with working with phones, the 3200 is VERY unuserfriendly.

Well the ultimate simple phones are the Nokia 2600 and Nokia 2650.
The 2600 is a candy-bar phone and the 2650 is a flip phone they are technicly the same phones so it's if your mom either likes one shape over the other.
You do have to remember that they are either coming out this month or in september.
Here are links to these phones websites.
