There's this one phone in particular made by Alcatel, and it's REALLY ugly. Trying to find a pic of it, but at the moment Gsmarena doesn't seem to be working. (I found it at Gsmarena).

about a year ago, every other phone that nokia came out with was a bit ... busy in terms of design. especially the weird keypads. they're tamer and a bit more understated now.

Looks very much like it might be a slightly re-engineered Sendo. The Sendo S330 (http://www.sendo.com/ourphones/details.asp?ID=13 )- is truly ugly.

Or the absolutely hideous Motorola A920 (http://www.gsmarena.com/index.php3?sRedir=http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_a920-517.php)

Whatever you say. Just keep your opinions to yourself, and don't cross the line.

I used a 6220 and 6230. I found the keypad to be like some kind of "hover-pad". It's not rigid.

I'd prefer a propelled keypad

Opinions are the to be EXPRESSED LOL

I agree that the menu button which is in the middle of a 6230 is messed up, I often click up or down before hitting the center!

Apart from that IMO 6230 has better colour schemes (silver, as opposed to black and red), not bulky looking and the keys are located where you expect them to be unlike on 7610.
The only thing which 7610 has over 6230 is the MP cam and Symbian sys which I dont really care much for. :D

Ha... 6230 looks way better than 7610, 7610 reminds me of a boomerang thats been dipped in a blackforest cake!

Nokia 7610 was designed boldly and with that very original Nokia uncomprehensive designing styles. 6230 looked more like a mimick product from Nokia seeing the success of the T610 which brings out a blocky shape out from a curvy bimbo laden market created by silvery samsungs.... even the form factor they choose to bombard on is of the same kind. Total copycat, total messed up total bla bla bla product.

P.S. Yupe i do bring up it's tiny flaws. So wat? Only engineering, programming, accountants, system engineeers and doctors would like 6230's design. :D --- boring nerds....

On the other hand. Artists, Painters, Fashion Designers, Art Directors, early adopters will definitely adore the 7610. :D --- oh ya, and of course, mobile reviewers... hehehe

Technically pretty much everyone on here is a nerd so... ;) On the other hand artists can have the wierdest/ugliest designs...but for what its worth IMO 6230 is nicer.

While I agree to some extent about the design, 6230 has a stereo mp3 player while 7610 doesnt... seriously thats the best feature of the phone apart from 7610's 1mp cam... but I dont care about the cams on mobiles by having a Canon IXUS 4MP camera.

The major flaw in 6230 IMO is that silly middle button, i hate it! Also it was a pain in the ass to remove the cover at first, then I found out how.

I always though the Nokia 3200 was impossibly ugly, with its shiny plastic buttons (plus having one each button be bi-directional?? ugh) and that cheesy "make your own faceplate" design. It reminded me of those ugly plastic mugs where you could slide in your own drawings. :)

And in defense of those other newer "odd" looking phone from nokia...I always thought they were kinda cool by trying to throw in a little artsy design ( granted, it's not always the best idea ).

Nokia-5100, 3650,7200,6170,3200,7600,and a few more for me I should have a list of the ones I like "shorter list"
Seimens-SF65,CFX65,MC60,Xelibri 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,U10,M55
Samsung-P730,X900 the ugliest, every clamshell with an antenna
Motorola-Cxxx except C975 I think,A820 the 'real brick'
SE- T300,T310
by the way what's wrong with the P910 like a brick, fine, anyone with that comment know of a foldable screen so we can un brick it.
Alcatel-they aren't that bad but not that great, all of them, after all they all are similar.
Telit- they really deserve some kind of award for the G80.

Actually anyone who condemmed P900's size were ALL idiots. Really, i'm not biased or whatever, they are truly, exceptionally, idiots.
Let me elaborate, i dun come fxxk and went off. (Responsible guy, which fxxk and take care of the mess)

What's the major drawback of a PDA phone?
1. Touch screen to dial a number - couldn't do blind dialing,
2. SMSing - Taking out ur stylus for: " hi, how are you?" ?? !! Leave the stylus for emails or word processing !

P900's form factor is a major evolution, that keypad which covers half of the screen is the cleverest part, alot of manufacturers are now mimicking that form factor.

Think XDA II's size, ease of one handed usage and input methods
Think of Treo 600's weight, qwerty that was mixed with a numberpad, making it uneasy to dial a number. And think of Treo 600's compromised screen size

It is the cleverest form factor. Dun try to condemmed my post with the SE fanboy thingy, YOU dun stand a chance for P900's form factor argue; any product that adopts this form factor is complimented, i.e. Asus, Anextek.... I've played with many PDA phones, since monochrome ones, and by far the form factor adopted by P series (or invented) is the cleverest ones.

I think the 7260 looks quite nice, but the Nokia 7270 is absolutely hideous; trying to add class with those awful textile covers but doing the exact opposite.

SE's K700 is not much to look at either. A really messy design that tries to look sophisticated but fails miserably.

But the ultimate ugly phone has to be the Nokia 3220. Anyone who buys that bulging monster masquerading as a mobile phone either has bad taste or no taste at all.

I think Nokia is trying to forge a stronger brand identity through its design. We should expect more Nokias sporting that..er...interesting shape. :)

IMO 7610 is one of the best designed phones, very bold, nice BUT i really don't wish to 'ON' it. 7610 deserves a better better looking interface than Series 60; they just don't match.

Don't u guys agree? Series 60 had such ugly interfaces, ugly icons. The whole thing makes u felt like u're in some kind of 'File Explorer' thingy..... And same thing with series40 nokias which mimicks the 9 or 12 icon interface. I like Nokia's simple filmstrip OS's designs better (although they won't work as good as a 9 or 12 icon interface.)

Ugliest phone ever: Ericsson R310. The rubber brick that won't fit in your pocket with 'shark fin'.

The antennae be useful though if you need to dig a hole in the garden.

Regarding the R310, i usually dun critic on all-weather-all-proof phones... they're made to last, not to please the eyes.... those that were made to please the eye but end up doing the other wa round deserves a place in this thread. i.e. the Siemens CF62 eeeww~~~~
