im looking for a phone with an excellent display, an mp3 player, and with good connectivity features (such as bluetooth, IR, etc.)

i like the nokia 7610, but im not sure if i should get it. Is it a better idea to wait and see what happens? im willing to wait 2-3 months if i can get better technology at a better price.

aite thanks, peace out

Well it seems to me that the SE S700 is your phone.

The s700 will be a good phone but not on the cheap side at all! it is released this side of xmas and will set u back a fair bit. admittedly it will be the best phone on the market at the time, but if u want something slightly cheaper there is always the currently avaliable k700 which is a very nice little phone! check out The SE site (http://www.sonyericsson.com/uk) for more info!

Moto E398, or what about Sagem MY X-8?

Well the MY X-8 seems to be off a bit into the future, but the moto E398 should be someting for you to look at. And any Nokia Series 60 device.

7610 doesn't have IR (correct me if ...) S700 worth waiting and will be price lower than 7610's price (according to sources)

You're definitely right about 7610, it doesn't have IR. Anyway for me BT is so much better :D

Nokia 6260.
It has everything you need, plus more, including an FM Radio, MP3 player, Symbian OS, expandable memory, VGA camera, funky twist-and-flip design, and more. :)
Coming out sometime soon...

just get a 6230... its got everything u want... a k700 wont count as having an Mp3 player... or if u dont like the 6230 then the Moto E398.

Hmm, not everything... The 6230 falls with the lack of an excellent display, and the K700 with lack of exp. memory. For the moment it seems like the Moto is the only alternative by these models.

Agreed. The 6260 should come out at a reasonable price because it's lacking features like a megapixel camera, but the rest of it is pretty good. The only thing I'm worried about with this model is the seperation of the main navigation keys and the keypad.

Why, thank you very much for your agreement Sid!
:)
Another thing that you could be worried about aside from the possible ergonomics problem is the size. The size of the phone closed is slightly shorter and thinner than a 6600.
But still a very good design. I myself am tempted to get one, however it all depends on how people respond to the ergonomics of the device.

Me too. (Do I get a thanks for agreeing as well?). Uh, I hope that there isn't a huge gap, it would be hard to reach up there. And if the softkey buttons are too hard you it would be hard for one to press them with the same hand that's holding the phone.

Oh yeah, you get a thank you too! Hehe
Yeah, the pressure needed to press the softkeys below the screen is the key. To hard, and they're dead (i.e. as hard as the D-pad on the 7610). If they're nice and soft, as the term SOFTkey implies, the phone should be good to go.

S700, P900, P910 those are all i can think off that will do a great job :)
E398 well its a moto and they've got a long way to go
MPX no windows os and moto
nokia 7610. no stereo and i personally like a touchscreen on a symbian phone.

someone said something about the s700 being priced lower than the 7610 (commedcargons), if this is true then i wont waste a sec on buying it. It is fully packed with features, but its achilles heel is that its 137 g, which is pretty heavy but u kinda have to expect that. just to let u know, im more of like a business/enthusiast type of user. Does anyone know what Nokia is brewing in their labs that might be a challenge to S700? i know about 6260/6630, but i just dont like their looks. 6630 just looks to big, and this day and age most phones have cameras in em, plus mundets brought up the point that its size, though smaller, could be similar to 6600. i have to see a moto e398 though...

aite, peace out

Eh? The 6630 has a camera...Or were you saying that the camera is not such a big deal as it is not unique?

mmm, the 7610 is good phone, but I do think that if you wait a while - you can get the 6630 instead. It has excellent "connectivity" features - like 3G, EDGE, Bluetooth, GPRS, WAP 2, XHTML, SyncML, etc....

the seimens s65 and the sony-ericsson s700 has good cameras in them, but they're not smartphones, so if you're after a symbian device (like a 7610) then these 2 are not for you.

another would-be choice is the sony-ericsson p910.... but it sure is going to be on the 'expensive' side of cellphones.

:)

cheers!

ooops, i had the notion that it didnt =p

i've already eliminated the p910, simply becuase it is a bit pricey, and im not too interested in the qwerty keyboard. Best bet is to wait until 6630 and s700 come out, so i can at least check them out and compare them
