hi there,

we all play games sometimes, right? Most of us probably have 1 or 2 of these, but what's your preferred platform? What's your favorite? That you can spend hours and hours playing games on it?

:)

cheers!

I love playing FPS on my computer, but unfortunately, i have so much stuff on my comp, i can no longer play computer games smoothly. In the process of fixing that. Love my PS2 as well, havent touched the gamecube in months. BTW, Shaheen, im guessing the 400 your friend payed for his gamecube is in AUD?

I dont like playing fps games on the PS2... pointing with a mouse, and playing fps on a PC is so much better.

cheers!

Even though i have every console on that list..i cant resist but say they are all pretty much useless....The only one worth while is the PS2 japan version. For some reason it just works better reads the games faster, picture quality is so much better on plasma screens..

Do not know why????

I have a GC and a *coughcoughmodifiedcoughcough* XBox.

GameCube has some quality games on it...if you have one and haven't picked up Viewtiful Joe, shame on you.

But I prefer my XBox for whatever reason ;)

Viewtiful Joe is a good game and I think the reason you are looking for owning a xbox is halo 2.

i have an XBOX but my little bro plays that, i just use my PC (laptop) which i find more convinient.

adding to the PS2 vs XBOX debate.....XBOX is obviously the most powerful home console on the planet now, but the PS2 has been around longer and thus has a more substantial library with some kickass games and larger established fanbase. that said, the xbox has a growing library, with equally kickass games.
But new folks to gaming would buy the PS2 cos' it has more "voice" in shops and media than the more powerful xbox. asthetically, both are similar, just the PS2 is thinner.

Xbox for sure... but seeing the highlights of the new upcoming PS X I'm getting inclined towards it. It's official Ps X will be using Blu Ray media. And the "Cell" technology... should be something "big"... but will see.. for now XboX ;)

Is PSX really that different from the soon-to-be-released PS-3? Or are they one and the same?

PSX? aint that just a ps2 + big hard drive?

http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/Press/200310/03-1007E/

im not sure if theyre the same or not....id expect ps3 to have better graphics, so indicating that they are different consoles, but from online sources, they suggest its the same cos ps3 will have same features of recording as psx.

i mite get an gage next week seeing as theyre cheap as..about £70 now arent they?

I use my PC for games.....as I get a bit of money I upgrade it, so I've got a great proccessor and great memory just got great sound, but now I need a graphics card! I tried playing Doom 3 but I can only play it with really bad setting...I want to get two of the new high end ones which can be paired up so I can play doom 3 in it's "ultimate" mode.

My point exactly... constant upgrading...I was a big Computer gaming fan.. Still am for certain games, and I still consider the computer as the best platform in any genre of game :) but...the fact that every time I would get a better graphics card to enhance my experience of playing a game with those extra features on. A new graphics card would come out or either the games would just get more complex.. starting from the humble Voodoo Banshee series, the Riva Tnt, geforce, ultra, now the Radeons dominating etc I just came to a point where it was frustrating to upgrade.. so I got myself an XBox. can go get any game I want, and be satisfied it will run good, put in a nice large screen LCD television and 5.1 surround + the couch ahhh gamers paradise. INstead of jus sittin on the pc table tryin to overclock the card or tweak the software. Then again, if you have that kind of money, spend it..but then also think what your going to do with the stack of outdated cards and stuff.

No, hate xbox and microsoft. They released Halo to xbox and 1,5 years later they released it to PC (as they did with a lot of titles). I don't like Halo so I don't bother much about that, but I bother about Midtown Madness 3. I really love the two first and I was waiting for the third when they come up with the "beutiful" idea to release it just to xbox.

Nah, it isn't that bad, but I think PS2 is better than the xbox though.

If memory serves...I think that THAT's exactly is what's inside the Xbox, right? A 700mhz pentium III and a GF2. Only difference is... it has much much more RAM than a PC.

Man you gotta be specific when you say PS2 is better, now come on we all know Ps2 has a larger library of games due to its earlier release... but you play a game on Ps2 and the same game on Xbox and you will know the difference. Whats this hype of Xbox and Microsoft, Xbox is a different unit, its owned by MS but nevertheless it operates as a seperate unit, I don't like Halo that much myself, but the statistics speak for themselves about that game and honestly you don't need to only like HALO to like XboX. :)

Americans won't understand why PS2 outsells Xbox by such a huge margin. They only know how to do things big, fast, power consuming... playing games on a console is very different from PC, u can't get the same formula to work on both worlds. Japanese had a very special way of doing it, check out those very new types of games from Japanese, dancing mat, eye toy...these are what that attracts people when playing games. Online FPS or something like that thru Xbox? i might as well use my PC?! hell i can listen to songs at the same time with a PC right? They didn't do things the balanced way, that's my opinion.

The Japs can still survive the console thing. Xbox being too riskily close to PC, people might have just opt for a PC.

There was a time when I owned an Xbox, a PS2 and a Gamecube along with my PC. But now, I seldom play those consoles anymore, I sold my xbox and gamecube a few months ago. I retained my ps2 because it still has lots of cool games.

I find myself playing games on my PC more now. Strategy games like Age of Empires III are just great on a PC. But I think that consoles are better when it comes to fighting and racing games. But again first person shooters are better on a PC. Pointing with a mouse is more convenient than pointing using a controller.

I have no choice but PC due to versatility, ability to connect multi controllers(joysticks and wheels) for use in flight and driving simulations isn't possible to setup with other platforms. Plus, most simulation games aren't available other than PC. PC platforms also offer possibility such as modding games, installing mods, better graphics, as well as customize a whole wealth of options.

Other than PC, I use cellphones(6630 in particular, was lucky due to it's speed and great wealth of games for it), because it's a built-in feature. But I wouldn't buy a standalone, say psp, it's simply a waste.

I have to go with PC. Simply because you can forever upgrade, update and enhance your computer components and hardware. I understand with the 360 and the PS3 you have amazingly unbelievable graphic power, but even then you can modify a computer gaming unit to outpower a PS3 anyday. Whether or not there are games made for HD when it comes to the PC platform.

Although, with the up & coming DX10 (Direct X) with the new Vista platform, who knows what Game Producers will be able to produce for Gaming Computers.

Well, so my main platform for the time being is the Nintendo DS. It's a great and fun platform. And it's so easy to find free games online! The hardware is cheap, and the games free and easy to download on it (only microSD, not burning DVD and blah blad)

But I also have a PS2, and planning to buy a PS3 and probably a Wii!
