Can someone with a 6600 post images taken in the night please? I've heard it's among one of the best VGA cameras which take good quality night pictures.

The first pic is with the NK6600 in nightshot

The second pic is with a Sharp GX20 with full nightlight

The GX20 is better for night shots

Wait until the PD-2 Camera Flash is out!

I'm going to buy it, attach to my 7610 ... and go on night prowls! lol :D

Yeah the Nokia flash is great... so long as you have the 7610 or 6630. Won't work with any other model according to the Nokia website.

What was Nokia thinking about when they designed the flash???? It's HUGE.
I like the built in flash/torch on my GX20, so isn't it about time Nokia built one into a phone and not sell a bolt on brick.

The Flash is "huge" because it has a seperate battery, so that it won't drain the main battery (eg BL-5C in Nokia 7610) because of flashes whilst taking megapixel photos

The Flash will definitely make a difference. I've realized, that the more lighting you have (make sure the light source is behind you, and not behind the object you're taking a pic of) then the quality is dramatically improved!

Certain pics appear grainy because of insufficient amounts of lighting, or the photographer couldn't hold the camera phone still :D

OK so I got really bad hayfever this year and sneezing loads but I know the 6600 isn't that great at taking night shots. Also I didn't know the Nokia flash is self powered so thanks for putting me right on that. But just re-read the info from Nokia and it says
And it has a separate battery, so it doesn’t consume your phone battery followed by Auto-charge when attached to imaging phone So it doesn't use the phone battery according to Nokia but it will use the phone battery to charge???? Nokia really do need to make up their minds...... I spose the only good thing is it uses a real camera flash to take stills and the good old led for video.

You have a very good point there yaris1001.

Maybe it doesn't use the phone's battery when making flashes during photo-shooting ... but it only uses the battery to recharge?

When they said "has its own battery", I thought you could recharge it with the standard ACP-12 chargers that comes with all the colour phones these days ...

It sounds as though its like the Bluetooth Car 100 I had with my t68i. Although I can't be sure, that used a high volume capacitor as its power source, which meant that you charged the phone's battery in the normal way and then attached the car to the phones power socket, at which point battery power was 'bled' into the car.

Maybe the flash works in the same way

The flash might be good, but even so, only for a few meters. The nokia flash, is amonst the best atatchable flash accessories for a mobile phone, since as stated above, a real flash, not some radiating led.

Ive never really bothered much about how I photograh things with digi cams or aps film cams. Just click and shoot, but now im more aware that, lightings got to be right, you cant have the light behind the person and stuff like that, cos its annoying already making ur friends wait ages and stay still to take the photo, let alone making them wait cos uve done it wrong.

The 7610 takes some really good night photos. I(kinda not the point since u asked for 6600) ve taken some after coming home late. With nightmode, anylightsource, eg those things on the middle of the road, those lighted up cube things. Well they have a green thing in the middle normally but in nightmode it disappears cos the lens becomes super sensitive to everylight. Its kinda annoying at times when ur takin photos at gigs and theres a light by them. Either have nightmode to capture but get stupid light blurs or have a dark image. Its quite nice really. Loads of things black and just little glimmers of light.

Well i suppose as stated so many times "if i wanted to take a pic i would have brought a cam" But i dont bring my cam everywhere. With my phone i do. XCEPT THE BOG cos that would be wierd...Its nice to take those once in a lifetime moments that u wouldnt have4 time to go home and get a camera for.

You sure? I have heard in another forum, where they posted the K700 taking grainy shots with its camera assist light, and they said that the 6600 was better at this, even without camera assist light.

I've had the K700i and got the 6600 and they are both fairly pants for night shots... most phones with or without assist lights are gonna be pants as its a mobile phone with the gubbins of a webcam (like bits) shoved inside at the end of the day. So just use you digicam for night shots as thats why it has a good flash on it.

What you got to remember is that a camera phones isn't for taking serious shots with, even the GX30 and 7610 arn't even the best cameras as you can only print 640x480. If you want good pix then get a digi cam, if you want spur of the moment pix and fun pix then ues your cam phone because to me you can have loads more fun using a cam phone.
