Hi, the infrared port on my laptop works perfectly with my Nokia 5210 (DCT3 I believe) and did so with my old 8210 (DCT3 aswell I think). I always get/got a stable connection. I've used both with Logo Manager and the 5210 with Nokia Data Suite.

However, my bro's 8310 (DCT4), 7250 and MY new 6230 (DCT4???) don't work. I seem to get a connection established for a few seconds, and then it goes. I used the Nokia Data Suite Software that comes with the Nokia 6230 and chose the Infrared in the Connection Manager (in Control Panel). When the infrared is turned on and lined up, the 6230 doesn't show up in the Connection Manager, whereas the 5210 does.

Is this a DCT3 and DCT4 thing?

(Note: I've got Windows ME)

I need to connect the Nokia 6230 to transfer Mp3's, so I think I might have to get a USB Cable. Anyone know where I can get one for a good price.

I'd rather figure out why my infrared aint working though!

Cheers.

Yup, DCT4. But it is asic 6, unlike the 7250 and the 8310 which are asic 2.

Even if you somehow get it working, transferring MP3 over IR is like saying that you have just toooooo much time on your hands. And if you get a call in between then its gone! Its really slow man get the cable! Ana Johnsson - We Are (7.3 Mb = 73000 / 1Kb/s = 73000 seconds = 1216 mins ) I am not absolutely sure of this! I have heard the it goes to 112 Kb/s but still then also just get the cable and avoid some serious time wastage!
