Anyone know how to enable the keypad lock on a Nokia 7610? I don’t want to inadvertantly make calls when I put my phone in my pocket. ;-)

The review that micheal did said that there is no keylock on the phone... retarded yes i know. But you can get a 3rd party app for it. Its just a pain and will slow the phone down a tiny bit to have an application running just to lock your keys. I do not, however, know of where to direct you to get that application.

Nokia 7610 does support keypad lock, same as in other Nokia phones.
To activate it, press the left soft key and then the +/* key right after that. To unlock, press the same two key combination.
Hope this helps,
Bill Day
PS I've provided my own take on the 7610, migrating data to it from an older phone (a Nokia 3650), and my favorite add on software for it, in my blog at:

Thanks, elnor, that worked!

He meant there is no automatic keylock like in other Nokia phones. The closest thing is the automatic locking of the phone (requiring a security code to unlock it) which also doubles as a keylock.

None of the Symbian Phones have auto-lock, execpt the 7650 which asks us to lock they keypad after the slider is slid in.

By other Nokias, I'm referring to the series40 phones.

Its under Tools, Settings, Security, Phone and Sim, Autolock Period.
It may not be there if you moved the Settings program.

Anyway, there is auto-keypad lock on the 7610 but you need to key in the security code to unlock it. ''-_-

Ah.
When I get back to Manila I will search around for a bunch of apps for my phone.
It's just too annoying to search with a slow internet connection.

Okay! Well I shall recommend a few so that it's easier to search:
IR remote (oh well, i guess it's not possible on the 7610!)
Auto lock
screen saver
screen capture
ringtone studio
midi writer
camera FX
BOUNCE (ehehe, i remember you had this on your 3650...)
if memory is an issue then zipman
umm, those are off the top of my head, will think of more!

Ah...Bounce! I love that game! And Snake 2!
Oh, you know what sucks? The 7610 doesn't have ANY preloaded games! (except for this one really stupid beach thing)

7610 still can have keypad lock.
The default "left selection" key in standby mode is set to camera. Change this to "New msg".
Now, click on the "left selection" key follow by "*".
Your keypad is locked.
It won't work if you set "New msg" for the "right selection" key.

RepliGO
Bemused
Hearsay
Agile
Splinter Cell - Pandora Tommorow
Mini-Pool
Photoacute. (it might make your 1 mega pixel into 2)
More but why to put them here.

how/where did you get bounce? i had it on 3650 as well.... *misses it*
.. also PsiLoc has a progam which will autolock the keypad (to the person who asked); go to the site and download it.. just search "nokia psiloc download" or somethin in google and you'll find the demo or something.

My auntie had bought the phone, she went to a phone shop and bought lots of apps and installed it on the phone. Then gave it to me :D.

Well actually I paid my mum the money, and then my mum and my auntie went to go buy it when they were in the Philippines (me still being in Singapore...), but she paid for all the apps, and got the blue one etc. :). Anyway her boss is the nicest person ever, he's SO rich and he gives all his employees phones on their birthdays. My auntie received the 7650 last Christmas from him, and she just got the 7610 for her birthday!
