Anyone know much about this phone? Used it, mayb? It's recently appeared on the website, and we've just got a few in store as part of a special promotion.
I wanna buy one myself - it's a bargain for the 65k colour screen and built-in camera (at $379).
So yeah, just want to know the good, bad and the ugly from those who've played/owned one.

I don't know much about it, but it looks good for the price. I was expecting a higher price than that!
128 x 160 65k screen, and a VGA resolution camera is definately nice. At only AU$379 then I can't complain.
Have a look here (http://www.threegmobile.net/main/index.php?lang=ENG&option=news_detail&nid=137) for a hands on with the phone.

Yeah, does look pretty attractive. Really want to see a decent review on it.
Already had a hands-on - we've got them in store, and I've been playing with them everyday since they came in! Just wanted someone who had some in depth knowledge (preferably ownership!) to comment. That way I can find out all the little annoying things u never know until u buy one.
The article does not mention anything about blue tooth connectivity, so I will assume that there is none. Had such a feature been included, photo's could be easilly uploaded to a PC for high resolution veiwing. For me, a data cable just dosen't cut it.
It's sad, because this somewhat limits the potential of this handset as a an image capture device.

Yeah, i wouldn't expect bluetooth at that price. IrDA would have been nice at a minimum.
Tenoq maybe you can be our testing guy :) hehe If you get the urge to just buy one, let us know what you think.
What is your opinion after using them in store? ie menus, user interface and so on. I'm curious as to how fast the menus are.

Menus are a little laggy, now that u mention it. It's split-second... but if ur looking for it (and I was), then it's noticeable. Texting is ok... but if you are a really fast texter, the dictionary can have trouble keeping up. That said, turn the dictionary off and it's sweet.
I think I will buy one 2day. Can give u guys a user-review... who knows, mayb I can talk Sid into making it somewhat official! :)

Very happy man now - i got me an E365 :) So far, all is good - haven't managed to get MMS working yet... but that's Telstra's slack fault :P
Other than that, very pleased... will give u lot a more detailed review soon!

I've tried the E365, I must say it has the best display of any GSM phone, even better than Samsung's.

Certainly is a very impressive screen... I couldn't help myself because of it :)
Anyway, there's been some interesting news regarding a special offer with this phone (for Australian residents only). Telstra & Myer/Grace Bros will be offering this on the standard $40 Telstra Consumer Plan with a free DVD/VCR combo unit thrown in for all new connections.
Sounds like an even better deal now! This promo should be starting 1st Sept, 2003.

Hi all, I be new here.
Have you had a chance to properly explore the E365? What's the verdict? I bought a Siemens M55 about a week ago, and It's good except its really slow and the ringtones are WAY too quiet. It's practically useless in a semi-loud situation. How's the volume and software speed of the Moto? Have you guys ever heard of Telstra doing an upgrade early into a plan?
What is the firm rrp of this baby? Most other sites say about $550, is the $379 price an introductory thing?

Yeah, I've had it for a while now, and I can say I'm still very, very impressed by it.
Screen is superb. Software speed is ok, but slows a little if u try to type a really long message using the dictionary. Camera is quick, easy - nice shutter speed. Photo quality seems good - but hard to tell when I can't get them off the phone yet. Ringtones are great - top setting is VERY LOUD! I've got it set on 3/5, and it still embarasses me how loud it is sometimes :o
As for the Telstra upgrade thing - usually, if ur an existing customer, they will let you upgrade 2 months before your contract expires, if you're taking up a contract at the same level or higher. That's not always true tho - just the general trend. Often you can negotiate as well.
The firm RRP for it IS $379 at Myer. It is around $550 most other places, because they haven't got a special deal with Motorola (and they buy from the RFO, rather than direct from Motorola). I know the cost price of this at Myer, and it's still quite a way below that list price - so they've got a deal going. I doubt, very much, that they will put the price up. I've never seen Myer go above it's introductory price on mobiles.

One thing I've been wanting to know about Motorola phones, having not used one, is the menu displays. On my current phone you can choose what colour combination you'd like for the menu system. Every Pic I've ever seen of Moto phones look really gay and weak. They always show pale pastel colours like pink and skyblue. (please don't think I'm shallow now...)
BTW Have you seen the pics for the upcoming Moto E390. That thing is off its guts:
Triband, JAVA, BT, 65K screen VGA camera, MMS, Voice Messaging, Instant Messaging, Voice memo, Multi speaker for stereo sound, Composer, really cool design. This might be a T610 killer for Motorola.

The Motorola E365 does have colour settings - Default (light blue), Evergreen, Metallic, Blue, Fall and Citric. Personally I like the Blue - it doesn't look 'gay' ;)
The E390 does look cool - those are some killer features. If they get it out in time, it could certainly put Motorola back into the game.

A few more quick questions if I may. I've been trying to get a definite list of specs for the E365 but a lot of sites conflict with each other.
Does the E365 support JAVA apps?
Does the E365 support email send/receive?
Does the E365 come packed with data cable?
Does the E365 support 65K wallpapers or just 4096?
thanks man.
I see you had an R600. I did too, until I got the Siemens M55. If the Siemens was louder and faster I wouldn't really care about other phones. My R600 had better volume and vibrate, and that's saying something.

I've tried the phone and I can confirm that it has NO Java, and the Motorola salesman who was kind enough to let me try his own E365 also said that Java will not be available in any software upgrade. It supports 65k-colour wallpapers, and you can, in Singapore at least, choose from a simple E365 package or a data kit E365 package which includes a data cable.

I think email is more network dependent that anything. It doesn't have a native email setup tho - u'd be configuring it urself thru GPRS :/
