Hey guys,
Just was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.. sounds like a manufacturing fault where the screen just stops displaying stuff... on my sister's White/Silver 7610 (Singtel-branded fyi) the LCD still lights up but the screen doesn't display anything.. when you press the casing (particularly where it says Nokia in top left) the screen starts showing stuff again, but with lines smeared over it..
I think its something to do with the 'layers' of the LCD where they are not stuck together properly (i read about it somewhere)..
anyone else had this problem? i tried to find out where it was manufactured but can't find it?... not on box or on the phone.
jeff.
ps. for those who are wondering, my black/red/silver 7610 still works fine~

EDIT: forgot to mention that the backlight still works fine, and the battery is fine.

nah the phone is the APAC model- warranty no longer includes australia.. probably due to lots of ppl used to buy nokia phones half the price in singapore and then come back to sydney and sell them. 8310 was about $600 i think in singapore when it was launched, whereas in australia it was $1000+.

If you want to sell it off, then I am willing to buy it for a low price. *evil*. Anyways get it fixed before this thing gets worse. Pay for the service you dont have any other option. WTF 8310 1000$. Cant even imagne that.

haha nah i wouldn't sell it (its not mine anyway)- it was a present from our uncle.

i'm guessin repair is the only option~ but i don't want them to **** it up further and then say its unfixable.

yup.. at the time i think it would've bein about $500-$600 usd.. very overpriced i think. probably because australians are willing to pay more for novelty items, but only recently with stronger AUD currency and so on have phone prices fallen to only be slightly more expensive (about 10%) than asian counterparts.

It's always a good idea to be sure that the warranty will still be good where you are.

nokia stopped their International Warranty thing that they had... that is crazy... a mobile phone is for u to take wherever u want.. they should have international warranty..

yes, in the days of 8310 my phone was covered here.. and my 3650 was repaired out of 'good will', but i think a product of such a high price and one brand should have a warranty valid everywhere.

as for $45 for firmware, whats wrong with current one? i want to keep my firmware despite the few bugs, purely because i want chinese input.

Just be present when it is being repaired.

So that they don't break something deliberately, fix it, and the charge you for it.

Or steal some part and put a used one. Because it has happened with me.

I found out the headset's volume was not upto the mark, so openned the phone up saw a used one and then went there and kicked his ass!

A few hundred 7610's have been called back as there are too many faults

there are a couple of bugs in the UI, but the main problem with my sister's phone is quite simply.. that LCD. which we still haven't gotten fixed yet ><
