Sharp GX20 interested me alot, and I was wondering about som things:
*Can you buy GX20 in a store in London? Without the contract to Vodafone?(I was thinking about taking a trip over to England, and I live in Norway, and the Vodafone network doesn't work here)
*How much does it cost over there?
Thanks!;)
Carphone warehouse only show this phone avalible on the Vodafone network however it is avalible on pay as you go for £400.
I have no idea if it will work on your home network.

The GX-20 (and all Sharp GX phones for that matter) is distributed by Vodafone, has two Vodafone logos physically on the phone and the software has Vodafone logos and theme in it. Other than that, it's just a standard triband phone, and providing Vodafone UK haven't locked the phone to work only on their network, it should work on other networks no problem. But because they're the official distributors, it'll be a bit hard getting a hold of the phone without a contract with them unless you buy it outright from them or if you find another bunch reselling the phone without a contract, I guess.
Here in Australia, I was able to borrow a friend's GX-10 to play with, and it worked no problems when I slotted my Optus simcard into it. Obviously Vodafone live wasn't available, but all the other things including the camera worked as they should, so I'm guessing the GX-20 shouldn't be that different.

Yeah, I can back-up Paul's response by saying that the GX-20 is not available to buy (handset only), and is only available on a Vodafone contract. The Pay As You Go -thing at £400 is news to me though, so can't verify that one.
So, if you were to buy the PAYG GX-20, would you then be able to use your Aussie SIM? Hmm, first thoughts are no, as most likely the handset would still be set (locked) for PAYG.

not all sharp gx's are from vodaphone.. the sharp gx22 is distributed by smartone hk. and there is also a gx21 for the taiwan market. there are some differences but nothing too major. only vodaphone uk locks their phones, the other countires(like germany) doesn't...but with unlocking codes, everything works on any gsm carrier.. the gx22 comes unlocked, just put in your sim and your good to go.
i love this phone, it's one of the best phone i've had,.. there are some minor issues, but overall it's a great phone...

ALL Vodafone Live! and PAYT handsets (i.e. all handsets with Vodafone branding on them) are networked locked. I have a feeling that PAYT phones are GID locked too (which means they'll only take PAYT SIMs and not Vodafone UK contract SIMs) but i'll have to check that out at work to be 100% sure.
