Yep, you probably read the topic, saying "How much memory on MemStickDuo can a P800 deal with?". Anyone with an answer to that question? I know you can get MagicGate Duo up to 256 MB, but can my "little" P800 handle so much memory? Really need to know.
Thanks!

i'm surprised no one has replied to this yet... considering all the members who own a p800.
i don't, but i'm pretty sure (85-90%) certain that the max it can take is 128mb.
there's been talk & stuff, nothing concrete, about there being a firmware upgrade/ patch to enable the p800 to accept larger memory as found on the PRO sticks- or a new variation of the PRO sticks to fit a p800. nothing official as yet. at least, not to my knowledge.

Hm, that's bad... I really wanted that 256 MB Stic. But it is also so darn expensive, compared to MMC/sd-cards for instance. Well well... That's just the way it is.
Maybe this is some kind of trick to get more people to buy the P900, because it can support much larger memory on sticks? Hmm... That would be bad too....
Thanks anyway:)

I am pretty certain it is not more than 128MB, because that is the max that the P900 can support.
Yeah, I'm quite sure that it can only support 128mb too. In any case, I haven't seen any 256 MB Duos on the market, and I doubt Sony will release them now, when Duo Pro has been released.

samweis, LEGITLY it can only take up to 128mb.
now if someones tinkered with the hardware or bios/firmware, well that's a different story. Seeing a 512mb working is one thing, knowing the reasons behind it is something else...
You got a fifty dollar bill put yo hands up...
:) :p :D

forget about duo pro!!
p800 & p900 take duo cards only. duo cards go up to 128mb.
until such time that sony ericsson release an official firmware upgrade for the phone to accept other higher meg cards (which i don't think it is as simple as that), or begin to produce higher meg duo cards - then your only option is the regular present-day 16mb, 32mb, 64mb & 128mb duo cards.
end of.
now repeat after me:
biggidy biggidy bo!
respect.
JUST DO IT!!

Just saw a very cheap 128 Mb-stick Duo here in Norway. 623 Norwegian kroner, or about 90€/$... normally, they're doubled that price...:D

this one (http://www.nwfusion.com/weblogs/cool/archives/003311.html) definitely works in a p800.
SE says that it´s not supported, i know. but what shall i do? i saw it working, didnt believe my eyes. perhaps because the manufactorer is not sony, but i dont know. all i want to say is, that THIS one does its job.
keep on hitting me folks ;)
or did someone test this stick without success?!

OK, let's see if I get this right.
These 3rd party MS's are a 'new format' in the sense that they are the new smaller 'Magic Gate' series. And come in both Duo & Duo Pro.
The Memory Stick PRO Duo cards are aimed at digital music players, still digital cameras and digital video cameras. They don't mention the PRO DUO cards being compatible with camera phones.
SanDisk will ship Memory Stick Duo cards in capacities ranging from 32M bytes ($34.99) up to 128M bytes ($69.99). Memory Stick PRO Duo cards will be in 256M-byte ($129.99) or 512M-byte ($309.99) flavors. So the regular DUO cards still only go up to 128mb.
Devices that can support the new format include the Sony Ericsson P800, the NTT DoCoMo D505i and SO505i camera phones... New Format being the 'Magic Gate' series, not the DUO PRO,...right?
But Samweis, you say you SAW it working? And not just going by what you read?
Can anyone one else varify this? Anyone got the means to try a SanDisk Memory Stick Duo Pro 512MB card in their P800 / P900?
I'm sure there are a lot of people wanting a second opinion on this. To be honest, I don't believe it would work in a P800/900 right out the box- not without some form of firmware/software tweaking. But we could do with some confirmation. Someone prove me wrong!!
