Hi,
I live in South Africa and the 6230 has finally reached here.
I wana know if its really worth getting it? I get it free on contract where i will pay the equivalent of $25 p/m.
Its gana be at least another 2 months before the 7610 becomes available on contract and im really not willing to wait any longer.
Please let me know what you guys think and recommend any other handsets you think are on the same level.
Thanks

Yeah, it is worth getting it if your budget does not meet the 7610 and you're fairly impatient.
It's considered a high-end phone, with all the good features implemented into a small phone. Check out the Nokia website for specs. It runs really fast, fastest for a phone with so many features. The only thing that might turn people off is the screen size and OS(series 40) but if you don't care about these, get it, coz it's worth it. ;)

You definitely should have a look at the P900. The cost could be something for you to worry about though!!!

The problem is that the P900 costs a small fortune and im not a real fan of SE. It costs the equivalent of around $580 on a contract.
If you buy it cash it costs around $1250.

What the heck is up with you guys? "a p900, yes, buy it, its the only phone in the world, everyone can afford it.." i bet you get your jollies from just saying that without thinking!!!
i like the p900, i agree its the best touchscreen symbian phone out there (being the only one helps too) but the main reason i aint got it is because of the RIDICULOUS PRICE!!!! and i live in the UK....Imagine how much that would be in South Africa.
Besides he didnt ask anything about the P900 he asked about the 6230 with a possibility of buying the 7610, which would be a fraction more affordable that the SE handset.
So, Ruler_70, if you cant wait, go for the 6230. I own one and i've never been more impressed. Screen size is not a prob unless you want to watch movies on it, and even that is acceptable. Sound quality is excellent, MP3 and Radio.
It does have a few bugs in the system, but not so much that a little patience and restarting wont fix.
I suggest strongly that you purchase a DKU2 datacable for transfering files, its alot faster than the otherwise good bluetooth connection.
If buy some sheer luck, you can put enough of your life savings together, then you cant go wrong with a P900.....though i would reccomend shopping around before the plunge.
Good Luck
p.s...FANBOYS SUCK!!! be objective and open your eyes.

Oh, Almost forgot. Get a 6230 if you are impatient. As the old saying goes, "Patience leads to better results" I know its wierd coz Its a translation of a hindi saying (Sabra ka phal meetha hota hai) The fruit of patience is sweet.   :D

yes its decent
both excellent phones. picked nokia up from the ground. i personally am saying the 6230 has a better build/style/groove/monkeyshine to it, but 7610 is glamorous too.
so yeh between them the 7610 is more expensive, has no radio, no infrared, a bit bigger but it has a megapixel camera, is symbian, bigger screen etc.
it all comes down to: patience, price

This is just what I'll be looking at getting when I get my 6230 in the next week or so (hopefully).
For uploading MP3's'n'stuff, what's better/faster/easier? Bluetooth, or using a USB cable direct to the phone? I can pick up said USB cable for about $50 here.

What do you want the phone to do?
Most of the new phones today do pretty much everything for ordinary day to day use. And there'll be a time when you'll be choosing a phone on the basis of design/appearance, since functionality is probably going to be the same across most brands.
The 6230 does everything ordinary people need and most things some power users require, with the odd exceptions (screen size for movie viewing).
Go for it. It's sold well in the UK, aside from the Samsung E700/E710.

Hey, comeon I did not mean that. I am really sorry. Anyways the cable would be the best thing, and if you can get one the MMC reader would also be great. Cheer Up mate! :D

yo man... mmc readers are cheaper and faster.. only thing is that u have to turn the phone off everytime..
i think cable is alot easier, had a dku-2 with my 3300 and it was pretty speedy. also its good if u want to backup ur phone and stuff..
bluetooth good if u want to send pics to ur phone but its pretty slow when it comes to big files...

Hey dude, how ya been? *Where* ya been? :)
I think I'll probably go for the cable. What would be the approximate time to upload a 3MB MP3 via cable and also via Bluetooth?
