First looks…
Just when the vendor opened the box… I was amazed to see how stylish the phone is… its slim, smart, sexy . The red n silver metallic strips make it seductive to hold n see! The keypad just kept my friends lookin for words!... Mind it, It looks much better in hand as compared to pics on net! Length’s a bit more than 2100! I call it BLACK BEAST!
Then I turned on the phone... & boy!, it had such a cool display!... very sharp, crisp n clear!... best of all the phones I & my friends had seen so far! U can see almost every detail… changing themes is so pleasurable experience! It seems now nokia has awaken to looks of phones.:)

Music…
The midis sound very loud (less than p900)… the background beats are vey clear… listening midi is very joyful. Mp3 is okok… some song which have high pitch sound loud, else medium. But still I have to lessen the volume when I m trying to sleep… that gives u an idea that its acceptable… I like the playlist feature supporting random & repeat.
All in all, the music has the perfect balance among treble & other effects. Nothing is too suppressed or too loud.
Worth mentioning is that amr & 3gp files sound very loud, much more than mp3 or midi… but some amrs give a pause after every 10 secs or so.

Internet…
Connecting 7610 to pc through bluetooth is easy… the phone does not hangs or restarts automatically on heavy load of net… as was t case with my 3650. But sometimes I do have to restart manually only for the first time while connecting internet (due to some BT probs), but not after that.
The application on mobile also is v steady, just like opera.

Imaging…
Well, this is the only (& v imp) feature of this phone which is below my expectations… Images when seen on phone (just after capturing, in small size) look so excellent… u think there is no need of digicam!, but when u enlarge them or transfer to PC… most of them will make ur mood off :(. After taking many photos, I have seen that photos taken outside like of flowers, leaves or on raod look very nice (yes v nice)…but photos in t room r not up to the mark… blurry… sometime it appears to have poor quality then a 3650!
Thinking about zoom?, ha ha ha!!! It’s a digital zoom, not optical… the more u zoom, the less is the detail of image (more blurry)!... but still nokia has managed to get a acceptable quality if ur aim is to shoot girl’s body parts… which of course is t major purpose!
As usual, the night mode is a magic… u get the required light out of nowhere!.. may be there is some connection b/w nokia & aliens. Self timer is also handy.

Video:cool:…
AHA!, this feature went far ahead my expectations… it seems everything is made keeping videos in mind… 10mins, zoom & bloody cool sofwares!!! yes, u still wont prefer to see the movies on PC… but the bloody softwares on mob … make it more fun than playing ur best games… You can add variety of styles to ur videos like Latte, Paparazzi, rendezvous, seduce, speedy, wink … addition to these u can cut, copy, mix, add colour effects, control speed, much much more... zoom works perfect with videos… whether 1x or 4x, its same quality!

Recorder…
Very sensitive!... I was sitting 2 mtrs away from the person… cooler was blowing out v loud… & still his laugh was so clear that its my current ringing tone!

Calling/contacts...
Loudspeaker is very loud n clear, even more than 3650, which already was v good. other person was clearly without ne noise was audible to whole room easily but i had to be in 1 mtr of range to talk normally... and without loudspeaker also its so loud that its 1st time that I had to lessen the volume!... 1 thing I dislike is even when t increased ringing option is disabled, ring will still be at v low in beginning for 5 secs & then jumping to loudest.
Contacts are better managed now… for god’s sake we now have t option to mark all contacts & copy them to sim!

Other things…

• As there is same pin configuration, I could somehow fit my old 128MB MMC in it… with no visible difference from outside but the back cover gets very tight… but who cares if u get double the capacity! :D
The nokia also gave an extender to 64MB RS-MMC that attaches to its back which gives it same shape as MMC for card readers… I cud also use it in 3650.
• Gallery contains all the multimedia. Although moving, deleting is fast but navigating in gallery is slow n boring.
• Full Screen Caller is the first application that should be downloaded.
• 8.3MB RAM free when appman & FS caller were installed.
• Key press feelings will make u keep pressing them!!!, especially the pencil button, which ironically is the biggest & least used, and most used navigation keys r t smallest out there! :)
• No special volume and camera buttons again.

Conclusion…
ITS KILLING LOOKS, DASHING DISPLAY, CHILLING VIDEOS, COOL MUSIC, PROUDY SYMBIAN OS… easily outweighs its minor problem in camera qualities!.... I GIVE IT 9.5/10… if u can afford, do not think twice… JUST BUY IT!

I disagree with the Recorder. Mine sounds horrible no matter which volume I used or the distance from the subject. The clarity is really really bad. :(

Other than that, great review! :) Its short and sweet(for a review) and focuses on your opinion of the phone rather than the specifications.

Is it my ears, or the Asian 7610 plays MP3s louder than my Australian 7610?

It seems like it

What about you guys?

However if you use stereo headsets, it's not compatible with the 7610 as it is mono. I'm referring to the ones that connect to 6610, 6100, 7250, etc.(Series 40 phones).

Simple the stereo handsfree will give mono output.

They don't work full stop.

I plugged 7250i stereo handsfree in and it says Incompatible Accessory or something like that... i don't remember the exact message but it doesn't work on 7610.

in cont of my review...

for last few days, when i used to take a pic, sometimes, 7610 gave low mem error (& didnt save them!)... then i wud go to appman & see t ram to b mere 3.9MB as compared to 8MB when i start my phone! i had to restart t phone to free ram & take pictures... so undesirable.
then i studied the reason for it... there is a process name ekern, which is a default phone process. It takes 500kb ram when phone starts, & mysteriously increases this space as the time goes! and boy, & when i connect my phone as GPRS modem for surfin on PC, size of Ekern goes to whopping 3.5MB!!! so here was t prob... still i have no solution for it... except that after using net, i just restart my phone manually so that i dont miss ne imp take!
so dont think 7610 has 8.5MB ram for u, instead just around 4.5MB RAM! coz u will always have to keep more than 4MB free for takin pictures, which is almost 50% of RAM available when bought!
i hope nokia fixes this in their next firmware... coz this prob was not in 3650. One more thing that was not in 3650 is that this 7610 body significantly heats up when used as GPRS modem!

this is my feedback i wanted to send (could not send coz nokia site running some probs) to nokia about lifeblog:

instead of "Just add Life", ur tag line shud be "Just add Tension".
I m t hell confused with t way ur s/w handles the sms. Oh man, y does it delete'em? i know adding it to favs will not del'em But do u have t time & guts to select from 450 sms i hav?
I m not gonna use this s/w until u update it to not to remove ne item like images, sms or athing, automatically (we know how to manage our phone)… there r lot many other probs which irritates me…
1. the way to mark t items on phone is not traditional… u hav to go to options & mark it…. waste of time
2. when u transfer sms back to phone, sender’s name is not thr, only the no. :(

PLZ DO STHING TO remove this flaws, or atleast give options in s/w to deal with all or some particularitems. The idea & s/w looks are excellent… but plz make it more practical!

The same thing happens with my 6600, I have to restart in once in a while...
