i think this is a waste of money... we want an all in one device!!!! not a quarter-of-all in one device so that we will have to buy all those extras to make it complete...
I think we should all not buy any of those products to show Nokia that its a waste of their time selling those seperately.... they shouldve atleast included this in the 7610 package!!

I understand your point, but having the flash may not be Nokia's fault.
As we all know, the BL-5C battery is crap. Don't know why the 7610 doesn't use the BL-6C ... but anyway
Wonder if they could have placed a seperate battery inside the 7610 for the flash-only, should it be integrated
I'm still considering in buying this enhancement, as it is one of the very few enhancements which may come in use ...

Nokia always does **** like that, its called milking their customers for every penny. Instead of selling you a car they will sell you a shell with no wheels :D Come back for the i model lol

I wonder how much this flash will cost on top of the phone itself?
7610= $800-900 Aus?
The flash = $100-200 Aus?
Total =1000-1100 ?? LOL
Why bother when you can just get a ****ty 1 MP cam with a flash in built for like 80 bucks from a retail store as a stock that no one wants lol
Ah people are funny, you can sell em just about any crap you can think of :)

I think of my 7610 as a multi-task tool
Personal organizer, Phone, MP3 (only for dull situations), 1MP Camera, 10min Vid Camera
Wait ...
While taking a picture, the flash will flash obviously ...
But can you make it so that the light will be on for 10 minutes while recording a video?

Yeah but you most likely need to have the persons face 10 CMs away from the lens for it to pick it up. Forget about video taping stuff in dark places, your LED wont work unles it keeps running throughout the 10 min and the object your filming is right next to the phone! Damn there goes your secret porno tapes :D

Having a separate flash is a way for Nokia to make more money!!! Remember- think like a greedy business man and you will find all your answers!
Nokia is making us drool and wait more and more for it, and when it finally comes out, a bunch of people will run to their local cellphone retailers and buy boxloads of flash units (this is probably what Nokia is hoping for).
I disagree. I remember a guy at work had a sony pda with a 2megapixel camera. If you took about 4 photos with flash, the battery would die. Totally useless. So nokia have given the option of a usable flash (range is 3m for photo, 0.5m for video) with it's own battery so you can take a photo at night and still have battery left to send the photo later.
A lot of you guys seem to be unrealistic, batteries only have so much capacity and if you are using it in a flash, it will run through it very fast.
I'm happy to have a seperate flash with it's own battery, that I don't have to carry around with me all the time so my phone is nice and slim.
As for the cost, we'll just have to wait and see. Personally my 7610 was free on contract ( and so was the gf's) so if I have to pay £40 or so for a flash, no big deal.

2 thing that I would probably buy for my 7610: The cam flash and the BT dongle.
Cam flash: Useful in indoor closeup shots, taking photos of yourself, your stuff, trying to steal info. from confidential documents(:D),etc. I agree with Andy on having a seperate cam-flash. With BT eating up batt. life pretty fast, having a built-in flash will eat up your batt. life even more. That's not good for a phone that is multi-purpose.
BT dongle: I'm bored of plugging in the DKU-2 cable. Maybe if I'm transferring images, then I'll use the dongle. If I'm transferring MP3 songs, I'll use the cable for faster transfer speed.
I do hope that Nokia will release its 7610 Style Packs and Cam-flash soon cuz I can't wait any longer.

You guys seem to think that an internal flash automatically means that it will be on 24/7. If Nokia werent so bloody tight they would include an inbuilt flash and have a function that would have it on or off. Oh sorry, thats too fair.
not on 24/7 more like use it for one 10 minute video clip and heh, presto, phone dies 5 minutes later. how useful would that be
look, if it was more of a brick and hade a huge great battery, no problem, but I wouldn't buy it. Or you could put a tiny led light on it and call it "light assist" and it would be as much use as the screen being on and facing the subject, again pretty pointless. Of course it would tick the box of "flash" for you so you might think it was great, it wouldn't work but that's hardly likely to bother you as all you want to do is have a go at nokia for not including it in the package.
if you want to know where I think nokia is being cheap it is in implying that we are going to have to purchase lifeblog, after all the initial press made no mention of an additional cost

there is nothing wrong earning money... and no consumer company forces you to buy their stuff... if you do not like it, dont buy it...

Before I go on to my question, I'm going to say that I understand why Nokia did this. Its so that the 7610 uses its BL-5C and the Camera Flash uses its own to prevent the waste of power
The efficiency ... we will have to see ...
But, how did Sendo X go about this?

battery wise this might be a good idea.. but dont u think it just kills the whole point of having a camera on a phone..
its not like ur gonna be carryin the flash with u wherever u go.. if u knew that u needed to take good photos at a particular night then wont u take a digital camera with u? i mean i only use my 6230 to take photos of funny/wierd things .. not for takin proper photos..
zalameh: it does have a night mode, which is actually pretty good for what it does.

Well, guess we'll wait for one of the web sites in my Favourites to produce a review of the efficiency of the PD-2 Camera Flash
- Mobile Burn
- All About Symbian
- threeGmobile.net
And a few others ... :p
