Hey,
Do you guys know of any messenger type apps for a s40 phone (e.g msn messenger)
And any messenger on s60 do you have to pay to use the app?

haven't heard of any such app for series40, i don't think it'll ever appear since the java system isn't capable of handling it imo.. or its unsuited to it.
.. and yes you do have to pay for the app on s60 i believe, and also have to pay for GPRS charges.
EDIT: Agile Messenger (the one alot of people talk about) is free apparently.. i don't use it so i don't know~!

i use umsg for my MSN my friends cant belive it it is instant and cheap cheaper than Sms it operates over GPRS so cheap cheap cheap the icons in the java program are the same on your computer eg. Busy offline
not SMS like other programs

Ah, well GPRS costs an arm and a leg here. It would be a lot cheaper for me to send over SMS than GPRS. Anyway is this umsg is for Symbian right? Not series 40.

how can your GPRS cost more than SMS???

Who knows...they definately overcharge here. I get free sms, and it only costs 2.5 US cents if it wasn't, so yea...

So there are NO messengers for s40? I had once heard of something but I never got around getting it installed and configured on my old 3200, I dont remember the name! :confused: . The SMS is free also for messages to response numbers there chris? For me its free only to Local GSM.

i am charged if i send messages to short numbers like 8243, 555, 123, 8888 etc but for gsm local mobiles its totally free for me!
