I have a special plan on prepaid where I get 10 mins for 22c, after that it eats up my credit like crazy so I need to hang up and call back.

My phone doesnt have an ongoing call timer... it only offers a summary at the end which is not accurate as it starts counting the call times from the second it starts ringing not when it actually picks up.

Is there a program or whatever that can tell me how much time I have spend on the phone as I am talking and not when I hang up? I hate looking at my watch "timing" it.

Thanks.

As far as I know every Nokia is capable of displaying the call timer, what you have to do is go to menu->call registers->call duration->active call and it will count up as you are talking. If you have a headset its even more convenient and it is very accurate, on my 8250 and 7600 i have never had problems with the timer, it never starts counting until the call is connected!

Its amazing what you learn about your phone when you have Optus Yes Time! :p

Oh if you wanna be sure, just hang up around 9:50, i usually hang up 10 seconds early or so just so i dont forget, now that i'm on 3 its even worse since its 10 mins only, at least Yes Time's 20 mins free!

Hey dude thanks for replying although I have a few comments:

I can get to menu->call registers->call duration but i cant find active call menu nor can i click on anything other than clear timers.

I couldnt find it in my old 3310 either.

Haha i'm paying 30c for 10mins! on 7250i, just go to the menu and when the cursor is selected you can see the timer moving... but yes i agree its not the best solution.

here's a really dodgy piece of VB i made specifically for my optus 30c for 10mins at night, just a note, there's no alarm message or anything.. if you switch windows to another program and you can't see the timer, then it also won't work, and once it hits 20seconds to go and the messagebox pops up the timer is useless, you just need to ensure you hang up.

... i know there are many workarounds to my problems, but i really can't be bothered since the program i'm using is good enough for my own needs.

hope it helps u as much as it helps me!

Oh man ... I just connected by 7610 Onyx to an Optus Plan with 'yes' Time on it ...

Is it possible to check how much you've spent on your plan on their web site or something (like Optus Zoo for example)?

If not, would Psiloc Extended Log help?

Now ... how am I going to call my girl who's on Telstra ... :p

*shrugs* sorry don't know~

maybe you should consider getting one of those sims which has cheap call rates at night (such as telstra's 1c/minute for 15mins to any mobile + flag or optus's 30c/10minutes)

The 1c per minute for 15 minutes plus 20c flagfall, is Telstra's Prepaid Plus

I'm on Optus Plan now lol

I could have and should have chosen Optus' 30for 10, shouldn't I?

Optus 30 for 10 is great; I use it on my 9210 and have private call ID so i can use it like that at night to ring ppl at random :)

Nokia are back to front I swear, to use the timer for an active call you need to make the call first, then as your are already talking get into the menu and go to call registers and select active call... it will be there counting down... why cant they just have it automatically like they do on Motorola?

Like the others have said, you have to be on an active call first, then just go to Call registers --> call duration and the first option that it comes up to will say active call duration, no need to click on anything, it should be there just counting up.

I agree completely, for a company that makes world class phones, this is a very stupid and outdated way of showing a call timer, the motorolla way is a lot better. Having said that its really good that they at least have a call timer.

nk_au: Get your girl to switch to Optus, then you can have freetime with her each night, i did that for over a year it kicked ass, especially after Optus boosted coverage and made it the best network in my house!

But then along came 3 and its freetime all the time now :)
