Hi everyone,

Just bought a Nokia 6230 on Vodafone. Overall I like the features, and its such a change to move from my old SE T68i: a great phone but very slow screen, very slow OS.

My problem is in trying to further customise the phone's looks for me:
How can I get rid of the annoying (and highly corporate) red vodafone screens that pop up:

1. At the startup screen: after the Nokia handshake animation a big red logo comes up and says "How are you?"
2. At shutdown: just before the Nokia blue company logo, a big red vodafone logo comes up.

I REALLY want to get rid of these nasty pieces of corporate branding, Im not an advertising board, Im a customer! Can anyone please help?

Thanks, Jon (London, UK)

BTW I did get a really good deal from the Vodafone.co.uk online shop:
Nokia 6230: Free

Anytime 100 talk plan: £22/per month
+ 250 SMS/83 MMs: Free
+ Weekend landline/Vodafone calls: Free

I'm not sure how to help u, but from experience when I wanted to change operator logos and so on (with the old b&w nokias), I used programs like Logomanager to do it. Maybe there's a new version for your phone which can do it?

thanks for your help,

after lots of trawling I found a free trial download of MobiMB 2.1 at Logomanager (http://www.logomanager.co.uk/php/news.php)

After you have connected the phone, click on the Nokia 6230 icon in the left hand file tree pane and now a 'Reset' option becomes (non-greyed-out) clickable on the 'Actions' list on the top menubar.

This allows you to reset the wallpaper, operator logo, startup screen and shutdown screens! i.e. get rid of the ugly corporate Vodafone advertising and just have the Nokia screens like it should be.

The trial lasts for only 21 days and has limited function, but fortunately everything I needed is possible.

A now very happy 6230 owner.

PS
However, I still have a welcome note that pops up before the main screen comes up. It says "How are you?" in regular text, just like a normal welcome note. I've tried to delete it, but the option doesnt seem to exist anywhere in the phone menus. Choosing to display a welcome note eg "Hello" results in the phone first displaying "How are you?" and then "Hello".

Any ideas anyone?

lol~ thats what i was gonna suggest, well.. i'm not really sure. i've never seen an operator having TWO bits of crap at the startup. chances are it can be removed, you just need to find out how i s'pose. best wishes.

Get your firmware upgraded from a Nokia care centre, it should get rid of all the corporate branding crap that they put on, that's what i did with my 7600 bought on 3, I got back my option to successfully use the phone on non 3G networks and got rid of the annoying 3 locked wallpaper i could not delete among other settings.

It should be free for you to do.
