Ouch, the downfall of Three? That's quite serious words...

Anyway I'm gonna take a look at the above posted review...
Grr it's not loading. =( I'll try again later.

well yeah i mean it weighs like 2 cell phones ( 220 grams) and it looks like a brick. 35-40% of the actuall face of the mobile is take up by the Screen. compare that to the 70% of the P900.
AND IT STILL HAS AN ANTENNA:
besids the other 3G phones are MUCH smaller and comfortable to use.

this is going to be the most embarresing cell phone from Motorola

If you're talking about looks, I find all of the Motorola 3G offerings embarassing. I was shocked when I first saw the A830, I was like "THAT'S Motorola's first phone???"

I've wondered why they haven't produced a clamshell phone actually, as Motorola are well known for producing good clamshells...

Anyway I tend to think of the A920 more as a PDA than a mobile phone (although it doesn't have enough features really to be classed as one). But I didn't think it had caused that much dissatisfaction with people. Ah well... Motorola haven't really done much right in the last 6 - 12 months anyway. I'm hoping their new V phones will get it right. =) If Motorola followed their slogan of 'intelligence everywhere' they might get somewhere, hehe =)

PS I'm gonna retry that link again, hopefully it works this time =)
EDIT: Yay it worked =)

Well, I had a chance to play around with the A920 for about 30 mins in a 3 shop when it was first released. It was, by far, the buggiest phone I have ever used. The camera application would crach everytime I tried to start it, the browser wouldn't load the "3" page properly, and the "home" screen was buggy as hell...

A9999, have you seen the A835? It's not great, but there's not much to really complain about with it when you look at the features. Of course, a real test may be different.

Sid, I haven't seen a real one (although when they're out I'll run to a Three shop and take a look =P) but I've seen the screenshots, and it looks much 'nicer' than the A830. The design flows better, I guess. It still looks a little more oversized than I'd like, but I guess it's something we'll live with for 3G phones at the moment.

But yeah, the features! It has one whopping feature list. It basically has everything a user would need, including the things that most people have been complaining about with Three phones, such as no external email support and such. One thing I'd really like to know is if they've made improvements on battery life, although Three say they will still include two batteries, so not holding my hopes out there. But yes, a real world test will be the real judge. =)

If only they could do the same for a clamshell design phone, and they'll have sold me =)

A guy at my office has one and i had a chance to play with it a bit, i think Motorola should stick to clamshells.

This thing is huge to hold but doesnt seem to weight that much, which is probably cause of the dimensions you would think it would weigh a lot more.

As cool as 3G is i might hold off till more phones are available and get a P900 in the interim :D

Not sure - I haven't heard them say anything about it yet. A very good forum about "3" phones and the service is www.aussie3g.com. While it is an Australian site, a lot of UK people post there too.

Well, Motorola made it for 3, and from what I've seen, they haven't done a very good job. Can you imagine any other phone being released with a Bluetooth chip, but no Bluetooth?

I must say that i just got my P900 and OH MY GOD it KICKS the A920 ASS without even trying.
My brother baught the A920 and had to return it last week because it wasnt working at ALL.
Well heres why the P900 kicks ass.

IT can use 3rd party programs like games and other software. the A920 can ONLY use software signed by 3G

the P900 is MUCH more smaller and lighter than the A920 and it has a Much longer battery life. 450 against 90h or something.

P900 is a lot more reliable device to use. i dont have alot of problems using it. I do get problems sometimes with some of the software i install but that might be because they are not programed correctly and have alot of buggs in them. So thats not the phones fault but it is WAY much reliable than the P900

the camera is much better, the video funktion is slightly better. The pictures and video clipps are VERY dark on the A920, you had to have a powerful light source to get good pictures. and on the P900 you can adjust the light, contrast and brightness setting. YOu cant do that on the A920

The speaker funktion is DEVINE hehe. when playing music on the speaker the P900 gets 10 out of 10. The A920 on the other hand has a very week speaker. the sound is good on a low volume. but when you set it on max volume the sound is awful. so much better sound.

And games. OH MY GOD THE GAMES hehe. V rally is enough to BLOW YOUR MIND. DOOM and other cool games with EXELLENT quality and speed and sound will keep you entertained for HOURS

But the thing that gives the A920 its final death thrust is that it cannot use other programs.
With some programs ive installed on my P900 i can easilly read books. documents, articles on the train or in bed or anywhere. i can just copy texts or download word documents with my computer and read them in my P900.
I have downloaded buss and train schedules in PDA formats and Maps of Inner city Stockholm in PDA formats for when im out in town.
As a University Student the P900 has helpd me ALOT. Now i dont have to print useless documents i wont be needing for class. (i dont have a printer so i have to go to the library).

motorola's new 3g phone looks stunning

v1000

due end of 2004 start of 2005

also the z1010 is nice

so i dont think that '3' is gonna be on a downfall

once these new phones come out then 3 are back in business

That is, of course, provided the handsets work PROPERLY. People having to return handsets because of broken features and such won't be encouraged to return back to Three at a later point.

If the UMTS phone makers such as NEC and Motorola spend a bit of extra time making sure their phones actually work without hitches, then Three will be successful.

Now that Motorola V1000, not a bad look at all. They seem to have the right idea with that one, although the cameras look awfully tiny (well I expected the outside one at least to be a bit bigger, it IS a 3G phone after all). Anyway, let's hope they don't let down with that one! :)
