Hey all, I was taking some pictures last nite using my Nokia 7610 by activating the night feature mode. And its weird, I remember taking 3-5 pictures using the night mode last nite and guess what, it didnt register! On top of that, I tried taking it again, and it said it had an error storing pictures into the phone and it exited from the camera function. However though, when I turned off the night mode, it worked perfectly fine. Storing pictures into the phone's memory as per normal, but when the night mode is activated again, it screws up again. Only once in a while, will it actually store pictures taken in night mode. Out of 10 pictures I took last nite, only 2 was stored, the rest were missing....Anyone having the same problem as me?

Regards

Adrian Yew.

Taking photos at night with a mobile phone is useless in itself (especially with Nokia phones)... you want to take night shots.. get a proper cam buddy.

that might be the case with the 7250i (which sucked hard in nightmode)... but its not with the newer nokias... nokia 6230, 7200 and the 7610 should be pretty good in taking night mode pics... alot better than previous nokias. and if u read the review about the 7200 in this website, it shows that its better than the p900 and the v525 in nightmode...

And back to the original question. No, I don't have problems shooting in night mode when storing the images in the phone or the card.

The only difference between the normal shooting mode and night mode is the ISO speed in the camera... in other words its more sensitive to light. Taking pics in very dark places with a 1 MP cam is very poor quality... Ive upped my ISO speed on the digi cam which is 4 MP and the picswere BAREABLE but nothing special let alone not quality.

7250i's night mode is actually considerably better than that of say.. a SE T610 I believe. Me and my mate were comparing them in class in the dark taking photos underneath desks where there was minimal light, the night mode on 7250i still managed to capture enough detail whereas the night mode on T610 couldn't see anything!

as for 7610's night mode, it works fine for me. Are you holding down the button long enough/keeping still? I've noticed 7610 is alot more sensitive to blurring if you move the phone after taking a photo than the 7250i.

If theres sufficient light present then night shots can be quiet OK... the only thing is you need to keep the camera still... one little move will **** up the photo.

In digicams its called a "long shutter" function. You up the ISO speed and use a tripod or place it on a desk to take night shots (as long as some light is present) in dark scenarios where flashes are not permitted.

Hi all, well I havent got a clue what firmware version am i using. But i just got the phone about 3 weeks ago and havent gone for any upgrade as yet. Its definitely the original version that came with the phone. Well I've just tested it again, and its confirmed! I can't store pictures taken with night mode. Well not all the time, periodically whenever the phone's in a good mood, it stores probably 2 out of 10 pictures, other than that, it just disappears...:D And when the phone's really pisst off, it just shows an "error" msg, something similar to the "sms problem", and gets out of the camera mode, and i'll end up in my menu. Thats about it. But i'm probably gonna send to one of the Nokia Service Centres and have it checked out in the next day or 2. Then I'd keep you folks posted of what the problem is. Thanks again.

By the way Michael, heard that you were coming out with a review of Nokia 7610, dont forget to add this into your review too. Heh.

you might be interested to know that nokia have announced the pd-2 external flash for teh 7610 and 6630. sipposed to be available 2q 04 but not sure if it is on sale yet. it has it's own battery which allows upto 200 flashes. I think that is why flash is not included in the handset, it can very quickly run the battery down.

Well technically so is the camera. It would be really cool to have a flash on a phone! I wouldn't stop flashing :D (...so to speak).

No need for flash during the day, theres your problem solved dude.

If the mobile phone manufacturers were SERIOUS about having good cams on their phones then they would automatically include a flash function. Sharp looks to be serious... Nokia is still kicking and screaming as its being pulled by its hair into the new "mobile phone camera" market.

Heres a great metaphor: Nokia is like a chick who wont put out... sure shell give you a blowjob but will stop right before you cum or something to that effect.

certainly the night shots from 7610 cannot compare to a proper digicam but neither any one of the cam phones can, but nokia 7610's pic quality is a vast improvement over previous nokias and many SEs, Samsungs and LGs...deny it if u want but nothing but the truth

sure easy solution, so your idea is that we carry around 30gms of unneeded flashbulb during the day.
have you seen the sharp "flash" on the gx-30. it's crap, doesn't light up anything more than 50cm away. complete waste in my opinion - as for your metaphor, it doesn't mean much to me. You might be used to girls not putting out for you, it's never been a problem for me ;)

Dont be stupid. What we need is something that can be disconnected from the camera during the day. You know something like this...
hahahaha :p

It would only add about 200 gms to total weight and would light up a whole room :p

Dude I should slap you across the head and send you to the gym to lift heavy weights, after 10 minutes youll realise that 30 gms is like a dust particle.

As for girls not putting out to me... lol Thats pretty funny coming from a guy on a site like this. The paradox is that I teach guys like you and many others on here how to go out and pick up women on the street, in shops, clubs and so on and by the way... paying women to sleep with you like in your case, doesnt count ;)
