These are the features that I think Nokia 7610 lacks as compare to SonyEricsson (SE).

1) It does not has a FM radio
2) Cannot assign shortcut to the 5 way navigation key
3) Caller pic is only 1cm by 1cm when he calls.
4) Can only assign thumbnail to contact at the Contacts menu, whereas SE can assign either at the contact menu or at the gallery menu
5) No infra-red
6) Does not show the thumbnail for incoming SMS

pros:
1) Good 1M camera and screen.. thats all

Useless application:
1) Presence
2) Position (most country does not support it)

One can download sooooooo many apps for the SYMBIAN 60 series.....the SW is out there.

I have full screen pics........... for my incoming callers.....

7610 where it scores is in it's RF, superb UI, Battery life, RS-MMC....EXPANDABILITY..............the bonus are the camera, screen.

It is a superb COMMUNICATION DEVICE.........Par excellence........

unsurpassed.

The Radio in Singapore is next to useless as the island state has boring FM content.........hearing is believing.........unbelievably bad.............

IR is soo so dated........not needed anymore............

SUPER PHONE............THE BEST AROUND AT THE MOMENT........will be till it is dethreoned later in the year....by another NOKIA, MOT or possibly S-E's Z1010.

Till then NOKIA 7610 rules........SUPREME......sales/STATS already back up ...........

Cheers,
:)mie

ANSWERS :D:
1. Yes, I know. A FM Radio is missing, but why don't you mention "there isn't Stereo Sound for MP3s"? Makes me wonder what Nokia is thinking ... no stereo?
2. There is a program to assign shortcuts for the 5-way navigation key. I forgot what its called, but I think its a Psiloc application
3. Why not use Full Screen Caller v2.08? Its compatible with the 7610, and might satisfy your needs
4. What do you mean assign thumbnails to the gallery menu? (Note: I reckon the SE navigation and SMS typing is quite difficult on the T610)
5. Haven't you heard? Nokia quotes "As One Mega Pixel pictures are quite large, it is useless to send large files through infrared. Instead, the feature of Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity with higher transfer speeds will be accomodated"
6. Now that's a nice idea ... thumbnails for incoming SMS. Then I get to see my girl's face everytime she sends a message! :D

PS: Give the carriers time before providing services for Presence and Position. I know Australia takes its time, because we only got GPRS fully working in December 2003! We don't even have EDGE yet! (one of the reasons why I'm not getting the 6630)

Oh, and btw ... 1 mega pixel isn't the only good thing. There is also 10 minutes video recording, better reception, faster system speeds, fast loading and running of themes and quite a stunning stylish look ~ don't you reckon? :-P

To Nk_au,

Hi there.............think both of us are wasting our time on this thread............something about Singapore.....i have realized incl some of the phone sellers esp off Orchard Rd.....lots of them Anti NOKIA and a very vocal, aggressive minority with a similar mindset here. They get into all the forums launching tirades against NOKIA.........

But usually fall flat on thier faces whenever the"POPULAR Phones of the month listing is released by CNETASIA........ Few months ago NOKIAs occupied the the top 3 places and 7 out of 10..........last month again the NOKIA 6230 was tops....but if you read the forums and postings you will get a different opinion.............

I expect NOKIA to top again this month and will keep you all posted.......have a good weekend............BIG PINCH OF SALT.....

Cheers,
:)mie

arent people tired with complaining all day long... if this phone sucks so badly like what u have mentioned go ahead and buy the SE phone. u r a consumer u have the choice....

i guess if you commute by train in singapore and esp underground ,the radio function is useless and i second the fact that radio here is a waste of time

7610 could have been better, a lot of other phones could have been perfect but face it, you'll never find anything that you will like completely...

if you are holding an SE phone now, you would have things u dislike too

Yeah, I agree that Singapore's FM radio stations all suck...most of the time they play stupid pop songs(no offense).

Anyway, I hope Nokia will release a headset that is special for the 7610 since it's mono and it has an mp3 player...:(

haha i agree.. singapore radio is very.. uninteresting, the game shows are funny though.. from an australian born chinese point of view, listening to game shows in singapore/malaysia are very amusing.

Hey, don't get work out man. I'm just comparing thats all and hoping for those features to be incorporated in the new model, or may even in the new firmware or OS upgrade.

i was just wondering why I must I download those programs and pay for those features where SE is built in and is free?

Try to make owning a phone cost down.

Fair enough lor~ but some people prefer the openess and expandability of a smartphone; I am one of them. The 7610 has a lot of stuff which the non-smartphones do not; and most of it comes in the form of expandability.
