Hey, is anyone else experiencing alot of probs with the 7610?
2 really annoying things are:
The phone (T9 dictionary turned on) doesn't remember the words I have had to spell.
Sometimes when I spell a word when typing an SMS the phone freezes, until I reboot - I can't get into messaging or out of messaging...
When i set my alarm to ring in the mornings, it rings but doesn't have a snooze option (this only happens sometimes, once I've rebooted the phone it then works again)

How do I check my software version?

Thanks

as far as I'm aware (never owned a Series60 Nokia, only S40, but I'm working on it) typing *#0000# into the phone while on standby should bring up the software version.

Ah, that was a bug frequently found in the first batch of 7610s that arrived in Singapore. You didn't buy a S'porean 7610 did you? :).

Hi there,

Go to "tools" and then to "manager" and delete it from there. then just re-start the phone....

Cheers,

You can't delete the Dictionary somehow. It's not listed under Manager.
If you format the RS-MMC, it will still be there
If you did the three-key format on your Phone, it will still be there
I think its integrated into the firmware, as it is v4.021.4ch I presume? Which is the Hong Kong version

I'm getting an Australian version soon. Woo hoo!

There was a similar dictionary on my 6600 and it ate a lot of space for nothing. I just installed a program called FExplorer and deleted the dictionary manually with it. Itīs a kind of a file manager -type program.

I know what FExplorer is, but I did a three-key format to wipe out the Phone Memory, and formatted the Memory Card as well.

The Dictionary is still there! :mad:

I'm wondering if its integrated into my 7610 firmware (v4.021.4ch)

~~~
Never mind. I'm selling this Asian 7610 Ruby and getting an Australian 7610 Onyx on a plan. YAY! An Australian version! W00t!
Hopefully it has Snake EX, Mix Pix and LifeBlog :D
You know the company "B"? (Uses Optus line)
They're offering a Nokia 7610 for $99, and pay $49 per month for 28 months. Includes $39 worth of calls.
All $ is Australian Dollars
However, I think its an offer only given out by the store I visited ...
This topic has been posted before somewhere else ...
Apparently its due to regulations, just in case the phone is near your ear or something.
It's not a problem. Every 7610 handset does this
It's a REGULATION? Omg....
Anyway, when do you know the next firmware is out? Can't wait to solve all(well almost) the problems on my 7610. I bought my 7610 on the 3rd day of its release, so it's bound to have problems. But I trust Nokia to release a firmware ASAP.:)
Oh, and secondly ... unlike the 6600, you have to place your polyphonics in either
C:/Nokia/Sounds/Simple
E:/Sounds/Simple
It isn't in Digital anymore. Only Simple ... and that's only if you want them to be your ringtones :D
Maybe you're forgetting that some of us are either non-Chinese, or hate Chinese.
As for me ... I hate Chinese lol :D (god I hate my Chinese teacher ...)
I'm non-Chinese....
Anyway you can still delete the stupid Dictionary using FExplorer what...frees up 4 MB of space.
Well, Unlike you all I have the European version of the 7610 :D
the phone doesn't come with no games and no lifebolg.
The only problem with the 7610 i'm facing is AMR files playback!, it gets dodgy or pause every 6 seconds untill the file playback ends. This problem is most common in all of the European versions of the 7610. I hope they release an upgrade soon.
By the way nk_au, the polyphonic sounds GOES to digital sound folder and works as a ringtone with me NOT the way you mentioned it.
sjhotshot, this problem DOESN'T exist with polyphonic sounds (unless the vibrate mode is turned on), It just exist with the mono simple sounds only.
Got my polyphonics in my Simple folder.
Now I have to wait for my Carrier to activate my service god damnit. Keep receiving the error message "SIM card registration failed"
Should be fine in 48 hours ...
Speaking of polyphonics ...
Do you guys have any favourite polyphonics/wav's? If so, can you share some with me?
My 7610 is a bit bored with Clandestine.mid ...
Mine doesnt do that. If I put on ascending then it will do that. I always put it on ringing and it just rings at whatever volume I set. So no it is not due to regulations and no not 'every' 7610 does that.
itz because u set ur vibration as "off" when u set ur vibration off, it will ring normally and not acsending..try setting 2 steps be4 the max vol wif vibration on, and it will ring normally:)
Chung comrade... you sounded so sure that other 7610s are just like yours (buggy).
Well let me tell you i did just that; volume set to 2 steps before max and vibration set to on. And yes comrade it did ring normally
:D
Hi,
I'm really wanting to get a 7610... can't bear my old Motorola anymore, want to get back to a nokia... but will be getting the European version and read this:
The only problem with the 7610 i'm facing is AMR files playback!, it gets dodgy or pause every 6 seconds untill the file playback ends. This problem is most common in all of the European versions of the 7610.
Is this really common? how likely is it to be on the phone I get?
Thanks
Madamebarso
No. Only the Music Library of AMR files for the Movie Director skips every 6 seconds.
Use your own AMRs, and I'm sure you won't get the problem. I don't use AMR or AWB, but WAV and MP3 ... and I haven't had any skips on my 7610 (v4.0421.4)
One more thing.... I have the opportunity to get a 7610 a bit cheaper from Italy... I live in London... is the phone going to be different in some way? would it work with UK standards etc... would it charge me abroad prices on texts and calls etc...
Please help...
Cheers
Emma
Emma
the phone would be the same, charges for texts and calls will depend only on the SIM card you use.
