topic. my phone is t616 and my headset is hbh-30. is there a way to configure the settings so that bluetooth is turned on only when making a call. BT is killing my battery. :( thanks.

The Bluetooth system in the T610/616 and Z600 seems to be a bit different than it was in the T68i. On the older phone, one of which I owned for awhile, you could have Bluetooth in what seemed to be a mode that would only be on when a call was in progress. I'm not sure if the only difference with the system is that you just see the icon on the newer phones. In standyby, when they headset icon isn't showing, the phone should not suck up much juice through the Bluetooth system.

Maybe Michael can elaborate because I'm not 100% sure.

it surely kills a lot of power when BT is on even if it's not in a call. i used to charge battery once in two days.but now i have to charge it every single day after i got the handsfree. and even more, it's been a known issue that BT handsfree sounds crappy when paired with t610/t616. of course that happens to me too. so mad.

I don't know if the T61x supports "automatic" Bluetooth mode or not. I never used that because it meant you could only receive calls on the headset, not make them since the connection would only be turned on when a call was coming in.

As cjmac said, when the headset icon is not showing the power consumption is fairly low. It is my understanding that the handsfree profile uses more power, too, so switch it to headset profile if you can (I seem to remember there being an option for that).

As to the sound quality... it is as I said in the review. That's what I write the reviews for.

I think the T61x is a fairly bad phone.

I can say that the Z600 headset audio was fine, though, except for those random quirks.

will i be able to resolve the bluetooth handfree sound problem through firmware upgrade? i know there is a new firmware R1B011 that will uncustomize the t616. thanks

The problem is theoretically fixable with new firmware, yes.

As to whether there is such a fix yet, I have no idea.
