Hi, I recieved an e-mail from a guy named Anderson, from a mail: mobilez_phones@hotmail.com. He sells me a T630 at $320 USD by a Western Union payment (I deposit money in an account, he brings the phone to my door, then I give him the details of the account I deposited the money and then he gets the money) and with the shipping included and the product will arrive to my door.
Anyone know the name or e-mail of this guy?
Has anyone bought from him before?
Should I trust him?

And he sells me a Nokia 6600 at $350 USD and with the shipping costs included.

P.D. I asked him about these phones.

Never use Western Union in an online transaction. It is the preferred metod of payment for scammers since there is no security.

sometimes my friend, you have to make sacrifices, and in this situation, i think you might need to sacrifice your craving for the new phone you would want, NO MATTER HOW GOOD OF A DEAL YOU THINK YOU MIGHT BE GETTING. because i have been a victim of a scam artist awhile ago, although it was only for alittle amount, the fact is, it couldve been avoided. scammers play with your minds to think that if you don't buy it, you will feel guilty and buy it nonethless. the best payment methods are:
paypal
escrow
square trade
and any related payment services reknowned worldwide.
NEVER NEVER NEVER do wire transfer, email bank payment, and even credit card payment is risky.

this time you might sacrifice this phone, but in reality you gain something more, you gain experience from future loss WITHOUT losing anything. take my advice.

and i leave you with these words:

IF ITS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT USUALLY IS.

the other time this guy from italy was offering me a 6600 for like 500 bux and that time i was a noob to online purchasing, all seemed legit, he just kept saying hell send the phone first etc, so i was so sure there was no way of screwing up, after alot of emails he sends me like this reciept, like through the email not an actual reciept of the transaction payment, and then only he asked for me to pay first then the phone will be sent...guess wat transaction company it was?.... yep...westernunion...

MMM...that's strange. If Western Union is so bad, that it also is the main payment for scammers, why do eBay has it, and even they have it # 4 most good payment?

This question i dont really know about. BUT what i do know is that although ebay does have the western union as payment, THEY HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. it maybe a business thing, or something, becuase maybe one out of a million ppl might use it WITHOUT scamming, so they have to still put it up, but if you read, it will say that it is highly unrecommeneded. just trust us. dont use it and you will be happy.

Darkwolf:

This guy is in Nigeria. The phone numbers are mobile phones on the MTN Nigeria Communications network (1st number) and Econet Wireless Nigeria network (2nd number). I'll bet you $50,000 this is a scam. By the way, I accept Western Union payments for the bet.

From eBay themselves:

Never pay for your eBay item through instant cash transfer services such as Western Union or MoneyGram -- such services offer Internet shoppers no protection against fraud.

Umm thanks for the tips but I'd rather buy any phone offline and spend some more. Because if its too good to be true. Doh! It is :D

darkwolf

I agree it's much better to buy offline (for security), but it's much better to buy online (cheaper). Not meaning those guys that sell you from personal e-mails, or private messages, I'm talking about the companies that sell mobile phones in the internet like expansys, worldphone, gsmphonesource, etc. (you know others).
I mean cheaper to buy online for me because here in Mexico is very expensive mobile phones and mostly other technology, for example you can get 6600 for $300 USD plus the plan! which is ($30 USD for 18 months; and you don't imagine the cost of the call, SMS, MMS, GPRS, etc. comparing to the countries where you live.) yea maybe for you is cheap, but Mexico is not good economically, so most jobs don't pay like in UK, England, US, Canada, etc. that's why I'll have to buy online, out of my country so is a bit cheap (for me) like $100 or maybe 200.

PAYPAL IS MUCH BETTA

I haven't tried it because I'm less than 18 and don't have credit card. And plus, PayPal doesn't work in Mexico.

Don't trust mr ANDERSON with the email address mobilez_phones@yahoo.com or something else and Do Not Use WESTERN UNION. They have cheated me onde and they have many resources to cheat people.

I ordered a phone and the payment was made by western union. I was told in my country that in Africa a password would be needed, but that's not true. They got the money and no phone. So I advise you guys, don't trust them. They only want your money, they were all deceiver.

I think people should have licences for using the internet, computers, and mobile phones. How the hell do you send US$4000 to somebody you don't even know?

mesiya
08-19-2004, 07:45 AM
The problem with the Western Union is Simple is that you can register without giving your actual Details. So if somebody does fraud you Western Union could not trace it and the money which goes through it is bound to be Scammed most of the times.
According to a February Report we heard that 78% Account holders of Western Union in 2003 were Reported as for Frauds.

Reply to Sid:
The problem was he Frauded us with a very clever way.
He gave us Fake invoices and used the name of the Famous Company named Telefonica Movistar of Spain and gave us fake signatures and contracts.
He even gave us Tracking number of Packages of UPS so it looked to us and as we called UPS they told us Tracking number was correct and Parcel was there in their custody but after that Person from the Company name he used Telefonica Movistar Spain when he recieved the money he Closed all contacts with us. When we called UPS they clearly told us we were Frauded and when we Called Telefonica Movistar in Spain they refused to give us any information about their Employees and always told us they are looking for the Culprit.
Damn those Telefonica People ! :(

Hey guys let me ask you something, i'm buying some phones from this guy from Italy, he asked me to make the transfer to italy using Western Union, he said i can use as receiver's name any name i like, like a friend's name, or something, and use any address i like too, after doing that, i have to send him the scanned WU receipt, but in this receipt i can hide the receiver's name, and address. So i have to send this scanned receipt and tell him the MTCN number and sender's name, so he can check the money will be ready for him, then he'll send the phones for me by UPS. As for picking up money at WU, its necessary to present a valid ID or answer to a test questionary, i think my money will be safe right ? I mean, he'll not know the receiver's name neither receiver's address. So he is not able to take a fake id and pick up the money. Are there anyways he can discover this receiver's name ?

Something i'm doing more for precaution, the same day i'm making this transfer i'll send him the scanned receipt and MTCN number, he'll check at the same moment, and then, just after he checked it i'll go and withdraw the money, the same day. He said he just need it to check if i got the money ready for this deal. I asked him if i could do that, and he totally agreed, i mean, even if he discover this receiver's name he'll not have time to get a fake id and pick up the money. I think, doing all this, the money will be safe.
What do you think ?
