Though the technology has been around a really long time, those mall gadget shops have been selling clocks that do the same thing. I guess this will be the new thing to take to concerts - oops, cant, the camera is a no-no :)

you'll have to practice alot, you'll need to stable the phone and have a good speed when waving. its looks promising, but i've got my doubts. but finally a new idea from nokia, altough its more entertainment then furture technology

Yes, I've been looking for one of these things for ages on Ebay. They used to be called 'Message Batons/Wands' and you waved them and it produced a message in the air. I can't find them anywhere now. Speed doesn't appear to be that much of an issue so long as you wave it reasonably consistently.

the technology might be out a long time back in clocks but i guess implementing it into a phone which u carry all the time is pretty neat....i often have been in situations where I had to convey a message but couldnt do it verbally so i used to write a note in big fonts on my palm top and hold it up for the other person to view....well with this phone i think i just have to swish my arm and my message is beamed....ya its a toyish feature in a toy like phone but its still cool:)

it's a pretty cool feature aimed at teens, which is why nokia implemented it into a 3---- series. would i use it? probably. this is a "come on" for people to buy the phone. after all, it really isn't anything special.

its not bout technology that nokia has focussed on.... but mainly on packaging....its just a new toy to woo grown up kids....i checked out the Curitel Identity which packs in air texting but never made a big issue out of it but Nokia wants to sell this phone with the air texting feature as the primary objet de desir though it is not a feature with the phone but comes as an enhancement with the Xpress On cover....Nokia primarily knows how to sell....as for u i dont know how u wanna go for a 6230 which is a series 40 phone whereas the SE P800 that u are using currently is a series 60 phone....how come the downgradation...and moreover a change over to a nokia after using an SE is pretty strange....I swear by my T68i even though its been a long time since its release.....I wonder how u guys change ur phones and what do u do with the old ones???or mebbe u must be havin a lot of money to throw away.....just in case theres any left then dont forget me;)

Ah, you're wondering about why I want to downgrade (actually, I don't want a 6230 anymore- 7610 baby!)? Well, 1) the P800 is out dated, 2) the flip is wonky, 3) the screen is bad, 4) it's a brick, and I would like something smaller, 5) it would be cool to have a MP camera phone. What do I do with my old phones? I sell them or trade them in. do I have a lot of money to throw away? No. Do my parents? Yes. :) And why would I switch back to Nokia from SE? Nokia has overall better signal and battery life. When I had a 3650, I was able to use it in the basement parking of my school. With my P800, I always have to walk back up the stairs to get some signal.

hey no need to explain yourself, lots of people like to change their phones.
It's not like you're changing nationality or something....

Me too, all my phones I've had have been sold for (most of the time) more than I paid for them originally ;) or at least for enough that I can cover the cost of a new purchase without forking out more money for a phone. My interest in new phones is going to have to slow down a lot though, I've just spent a ton of money on laptops (computers and phones are the things I change on a daily basis) and my 6230 is great.

I think the TFT screen will be a bit of a winner on the new phone as well, it's something SE don't have on their small phones yet and it does make it look so much better. The lack of data transfer is a problem though (I know you can use a data cable but that doesn't really count for much plus it won't send to other phones - major oversight, seeing as SE's cheapies like the T300 will).

I didn't practice it at all and worked just fine. Is there something to practice really, just waving the phone from side to side? Or maybe I'm just super talented... I can walk and jump too. ;)

Me thinks that the only possibility of somebody needin a lot of practise to swing their arm would be someone who needs practise using his arm.....(oh i got a new arm...need to practise with it)...lol........no offense meant to anyone;)

I just wonder why Nokia doesnt always pack in all the features in one single phone. As a fact of the matter...even though the 3220 has this air texting feature it is an enhancement whereas the same feature in the Curitel Identity comes as an in built feature. Then comes the size and looks......it does look a lil too bulky....why doesnt Nokia come with smaller phones like the way SE does and with all the features into one......and by the ways i checked out the Neonode phone on
http://www.deplugged.com/displayarticle7.html
and theres more about the phone on this site than what it is on the official website. The deplugged site probably might have got the marketing rights or something of that sort for the phone.
The Neonode N1 is one awesome phone and I hafta lay my hands on one of those....Its just one of those phones that give me one of those rare drool feeling.take a look at it by clicking on the link.

it's called a marketing strategy!
Take the 3300. It's got an MP3 player, but no camera. Take the 7250. It's got a camera, but no MP3 player. Nokia wants you to buy multiple phones to make you happy! This is why the rarely release a good all-in-one phone!
Just my thought. :)

Ok, fair point, but what about the 6230 it has all that and more (TFT screen, video recorder, etc.) - it's expensive yes, but no more so than a 7250 and a 3300 and it's smaller.

But yes, it's true that Nokia is playing the market with phones which are almost complete just not quite.

Erm... all the phones mentioned in this thread are series 40, what's your point? It's still a multi-function phone.
