nokia keeps taking consumers for granted, by giving us outdated technology, i am a nokia fan but they keep doing this for example it wouldn't have cost so much more to just add stereo support to the 7610, i guess i have to look forward to the 6620 or se s700.

don't forget that the 7610 doesn't use the standard cam. its 1MP instead of 1.3MP, the standard that all the other MP phones are using

Adding to what you said it uses cmos not ccd which is used in most digital cameras it also does not use IR which I use with a few of my freinds old phones and that you need for the award winning application Piscal remote control.
Like said before there is no stereo which means you still pay extra for the mp3 which you are not gonna use due to bad quality sound and the abnormal 1 megapixel not 1.3 megapixel standerd and there are rumors that it may not be able to fuction as a modem.
Wrap that all up and you get a dissaponting phone.
Ohwell can't wait to get the K700, Are you going to get that Bart or are you going to get the Z1010 or a different phone?

Hardly any digital phone cameras use CCD technology apart from the Samsung V200 and the Sharp GX-20/30. It is a better technology but CMOS is still fine for the resolutions and applications the photos are currently being used for. IR is being phased out on a lot of model now. I admit it's useful for transferring business cards, etc. but its only other true use was for that IR remote thing, which isn't a huge thing anyway.

1 megapixel is pretty normal and the difference between a 1 and 1.3Mpix sensor is tiny, in fact a 1Mpix sensor may even be better than a 1.3 coupled with a decent lens system and hardware so you can't judge it just on that.

I think it will function as a modem but I have to say the lack of stereo MP3 is a bit of a waste of time. Anyway in recent times there have been no really exciting applications for the Symbian OS platform so I switched to a 6230 because I think for what it is, it offers so much more.

i dont understand why u guys want higher resolution cameras.. the gx30 has got a 1mp cam, but if u want to send the pic as MMS u will have to chose a lower resolution. its no use having a 1.3mp camera if u want to take pictures and send them around.. and if u are thinking of printing them out, then 1.3mp is not good enough.
also i never used my phone as a modem, so ive got a question..
does using the phone as a modem charge u in the same way as using it for GPRS.. becuase if it does, then that will not make any difference for alot of ppl who dont use GPRS becuase its a ripoff.

the only thing that held me back from getting that phone is the lack of stereo... and thats the only thing i think is actually WRONG with the phone... not the other stuff u guys are talkin about.

Hi there,

The only downside to this phone is the lack of stereo.

The 1 million MP to 1.3 Million MP is tiny near non existant.

On the whole it is a far superior package to K 700.

Better RF, Easy to use UI, Faster UI, decent Battery life, Expandability where one can store games and more importantly contactson the MINI MMC card.

The NOKIA 7610 is soooooooooo far ahead of the botched upgrade of the T630 called K700.

Ridiculous to even compare......

mines coming in about 8 days from some guy off ebay who is shipping from hong kong as soon as the phone arrives ive asked him to takea pic of the box and imei. until then im not paying but heres hoping.

You do realise HK phones are grey import and therefore have no warranty at all? They also have a higher failure rate so I'd avoid them like the plague if I were you.

I used to be impatient with phones but now realise that a month or two of waiting means I save anywhere from 20-30% on the price and it can be UK-spec with UK-recognised warranty.

I just hope you know what you are getting yourself into here...

7610 has an MP3 chip, so the quality will be MUCH better than 6600, 3650, etc, etc. Stereo doesn't matter to everyone.

You gotta be a clown to try and print and "impress" your peers with anything lower than 3.2 MP quality. 3.2 MP is the current standard, use your phone cameras to take pics for yourself, dont try and print them hoping they will look awesome.

Its like trying to ride a scooter down an AutoBahn (sp?) highway...

The phone is not just for taking pictures, it has other functions as well, like 4x zoom (camera and video recorder), and a 1 MP cam is a pretty good thing for a camera phone so far. I don't think the 7610 has a hardware MP3 decoder or it would support stereo functions. I also think this will result in a maximum sample rate of 16kHz just like the other series 60 phones - N-Gage being the exception (which did have a hardware decoder).

It should also have been noted that the only time the N-Gage had decent sound quality was when the MP3 decoder was invoked and that it normally took about 3 seconds to do this. The games had pretty poor sound because they used the normal sound engine.

No, you can get sound from both headphones but it will still be the same sound (from both earpieces) and so mono and also really bad quality, just as with the 6600.

Crappy 3.2? haha. There are 3.2 cams that could beat the quality of some 4mp. The Olympus mju 300 for example.

Just noticed some people are almost comparing the K700 to the 7610. I read somewhere that the K700 isnt even the same level as the T610. The T610/T630 will have their own replacement.

My mate has a Sony DSC V1 5MP, its like Japanese but has German lenses, the end result is AWESOME quality!

Canon Ixus i is is good quality for its price! Ill be happy with it cos some of my mates have it already.
