How about a list of recent or most active posts on the front page, similar to the most read stories section?

Would be fun for everyone.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll pass it by Michael - the editor and resident code monkey. We may have to wait for the forums to get a little busier before it works out though.

He knows the code monkey. He lives down the street from me....

Anyway, I plan on doing some cool integration stuff. That would be one of those types of things.

Code Monkey...I think I'll use that.

I figured since you're not riding, you'd have nothing more important going on than to fully integrate the forums with the front page.

This feature is basically coded, I just have to determine where to put the table with the list of active threads.

Ideas?

I could have the front page alternate between the current Top 10 Stories list and the Forums List, but that strikes me as a bit strange. You would have to leave it up to chance to get the info you might actually want.

So the question is, what to do with the data?

Why would you make it alternate? What you have already made is fine. Just put it on the front page next to the most read stories.

Next to it? Wouldn't fit.

Under it? Too damn long.

I don't want the page to be 30 feet long (10 meters, roughly for you metric types). For one, it just makes the page a bigger download when it is already quite large, and secondly....it would never get sen or read down there.

I suggest putting it to the right of the "most read stories" table, call it something like "recent forums posts" and put ten or something there.

Sounds about right...

if you had seen the date, or the webpage, you would have understood that this doesn't apply any more. it's almost a year ago the last post before you replied
