Unblievable but true about nokia 7700... [Archive]

It is really unbielevable...
Nokia 7700 does not support video recording but only video playback,download and streaming.

When i figured that out i couldn't just believe it...this phone has almost everything and it lucks of video recording programm.

Althought i believe that it a 3rd party video recording application will developed for 7700 i can not understand why nokia did not add this feature to its phone...

Its not even released yet is it?..... things could change, and maybe there will be support for that function when it finally get to the outside world...... hopefully.

Yeah, but let us be honest with each other. The recorders on phones are far from perfect, I think they will only become useful when they start recording at 640x480 i.e a TV screen's resolution or something of the sort.

If you think about it that could of happened with the nokia 7700 but with a 640x200 resoultion but it wasen't like I was going to get the phone.
See what nokia does to it's customers firstly nokia 7610 does not support IR or STEREO on mp3 but this aswell even thought the video function is not a REAL letdown and i did'nt show many faults with nokia i don't care as other brands are not brillent like sony ericsson s700 iiii wwwwwwannnnnnnttt it in 2 months or less they still are reliable unlike NOKIA.

Who do they think they are.
They launched the 7600 without the MMC and S60... I handled it
They launched the 7610 without stereo .... I handled it
They made the 6230 feel plasticy ... I handled it

And now the phone which I was waiting for Does not have a VIDEO rec? Thats little too much. Nokia you have made a dir hard nokia fan push himself too far!

I hope this news is false otherwise you will see a picture of a burning nokia 7700 soon!

I'@M going to get the Sony Ericsson K700 it's made for me but there is allways a new phone that i want life's a bitch.:confused:

No Ir so I could not use the award winning unversel remote on the phone a craper camera than sharp gx 30 because nokia 7610 has cmos not ccd which is used in digi cams and japanese phone and "s700" and don't forget MONO output uhggg :mad: added with the need to buy the rs mmc from nokia or samsung and anyother phone company that sells them really makes it a pile of S h I t with a cmos camera lol you are blinded by nokia's promases manva nokia are never going to change they are evil please add any more faults with nokia?

I just can not get it....
When i first saw it i said that this is going to be my next mobile even the didn't included a better than standard VGA resolution camera...now i am not even sure if i will buy it because soon nokia and other manufactures will release much better quality camera phones(more than 1 mp) and video recorders at 320x240 pixels or more...

This news are not false just go at nokia.com avd compare Nokia 7700 with another model which support video recording... and you will see that this is 1000000% true.

Go directly to nokia comparing 6600 and 7700 (http://www.nokia.com/phones/comparephones/compare_results.jsp?location=EMEA&language=EN&pageaction=COMP&phone=7700&phone=6600) and chose expand all then take a look at phone features and at video services

I was really considering this for my next phone... I guess ill have to fo for the 9500 then... I really want a keyvoard, and need it. But the 7700 had so many multi-media functions to it, it was too cool to pass up... even though it looks rather ridiculas, I didnt care, to me the phone would have brought me some interesting attention :-D

Anyway.... if SE DID come out with a landscape phone with a KB or a wide screen (native) I would definately look at it for my next investment. :D

Well then we must not support them so that they bring out a phone that we really want. Eg Sony erricson brought out the great P900

I'm just angry that nokia still survies after all this chaos of big faults on there phones.They will never be taken down though because they are directed at causal phone uses who don't know about specs and just go for looks I'm not saying every nokia phone user is like this but most of them are.Oh well all I want is for SE to come second and slowy take over:D .

Even i am a big fun of nokia (for me nokia=mobile) i am realy disappointed for what they are doing...Other manufactures put all the developed technology on one phone and a price more than $800 nokia miss some importand features and has a very good price on their phones so all devices can be sold.

The only reason i am not bying anything else but nokia,is that because nokia phones are so popular,3rd party applications are developed especialy for nokia.The only mobile that doesn't belong to nokia and i could buy is SE P900...

I send this to nokia to have some answers:

Even i am i big fan of nokia phone models(i have changed 3 mobiles so far and all were nokia)i am i bit disappointed because i was expecting 7700 to released and sell my 3660 to buy it and i realised that this incredible mobile does not have video recording program...
And i am asking why you nokia do this to us?I know a lot of people out there who are realy disappointed because
1)you announced 7610 and it has an in-built mp3 but it lucks of STEREO support.
2)You announced 7700 and you didn't include a better quality camera and a video recorder.
3)you rlaunched 7600 without MMC support.
4)You launched 3660 without TFT screen and some improvements above 3650...

What's the matter with you people?Why can't you release a phone that has everything we want?
Ask people out there to see that lot of us are realy disappointed...

Well I do remember on the Nokia India + Singapore site it said: "shoot videos on the VGA camera" or something like that...anyway is it me or has the 7700 disappeared from Nokia Asia sites.

Nokia 7700 also disappears from nokia.com worlwide,uk,greece e.t.c...Maybe it was a mistake from their side but they never refered in video recording....

Nokia Asia. I definately read there that it can 'shoot videos with the VGA camera'.

i was just thinking u guys are clearly distressed but come on who cares if it doesnt have video capture. If i can remember i had a 7650..... oh yeah and i was able to download an app to enable it. stop worrying you guys are all crazy and sick in the head just chill out wait to he phone to be released in july if it has it great if not im sure you can use one of the symbian apps to enable it.

I know that a video recording program will released in market...

BUT DON'T FORGET N7700 IS THE FIRST MOBILE PHONE BASED ON SERIES 90 UI AND I DON'T THINK THERE IS ANY APPLICATION DEVELOPED YET ON SERIES 90 WHILE ON SERIES 60 THERE ARE PLENTY OF THEM.I DON'T KNOW IF IN THE FUTURE WILL BE RELEASED AS MANY APPS AS THE APPS OF SERIES 60.

And i think a video recording program will not be available very soon.(Remember how late they developed video recording for 7650)......

The 7700 on Nokia India is back. But it still says it can take videos!! They've changed it by putting 'stills and videos'. What is up with Nokia??

From the Nokia Finland website, FAQ:

"Voiko Nokia 7700 -medialaitteella toistaa ja nauhoittaa videoleikkeitä?

Nokia 7700 -medialaitteella voi kyllä katsella videoleikkeitä, mutta sillä ei voi nauhoittaa niitä."

Translation:

"Can the 7700-media device play and record video clips?

You can play/watch video clips, but the device cannot be used to record them"

This seems to put the issue, unfortunately, to rest. At least for now, let's hope the final polishing of the new UI would include videorecording.

sid is right its another crazy taco phone without video i like all manufacturers as they all have unique qualities but the 7700 is clever but very ugly and it cant even perform a function my little 6230 can perform "video" sony seem to have their heads screwed on. nokia loose some of their market share panic and release alot of un-neccessary phones. Wait they'll be a 7700 i or something crazy in a few months.

After all, 7700 is only a test device that was never even expected to sell a wholelot. One should not get all hyped up about it either way. I think. :)

Most of Nokia's sales come from quite other models. If any of the rumors on mobile-review.com forum are true (some are, some not of course), they should be coming out with some fairly solid models later this year.

And if they do drop from close to 40% to even 30%, they are still undisputed market leader and should have the muscle to correct the course over time. Plus, they have still been churning quite sizeable profits and make nice margins on many models.

Plus, at least their models are interesting enough in good and bad to whip up most of the forum discussions.. ;)

this phone really makes me laugh; nokia are trying to market it as some amazing revolution, when it's obviously just their answer to the P800, about three years too late. apart from the hideous "original" design, just what's new here? touchscreen? handwriting recognition? "click to call"? it's all very old news to anyone outside the nokia bubble...
