News on Moto v80?

Does anyone have any news on this phone, because i have been holding out on this contract for the phone. I have been with o2 for like 14 months and am desperate for a new phone, as one of my best friends wants my current one too. I was going to get a v600 but saw the v80 and am desperate for it. I have tried several places and contacts for a release date but the best one i can get is carphone warehouse is may 2004, so where is it then?

We tried out the V80 at CeBIT and it seemed very plasticky and the flip mechanism is a bit "loose". Considering they have very similar specs, I'd buy a V600 over the V80.

thanks for the advice but i know that i'll want a v80 when it comes out and my dada has a v600 and although it is pretty sound, it doesnt have the wow factor i'm after really. Did it not impress you much atall?

It was a nice phone, but it didn't have the feeling that you get when you hold something elegant and high-quality - such as you do with the V600. I guess it's not a bad phone, but not the nicest, or "classiest" I've seen.

I have both the V600 and the V80. I totally agree with Sid on build quality and feel. If I could just buy one of these two, I'd go with the V600. Feels great to hold and build quality is great.

The V80 I was using last week felt better than the one that Sid and I were playing with in Hannover in March.

Still not as solid as I would prefer, but it felt better.

For my opinion body-built of v80 is very same as body on my T610. I don't have any bad words for body of v80.

I want one of these too, looks really good. Im on o2 aswell, they don't seem to had an idea of when its coming out. My contract has just hit 12 months, but Ive always had nokias previous years, thats why i want a change.

Spoken to someone at O2 today, its comes out the start of July, not sure of the price though. They said they will have more deatails when it's released.

Spoken to someone at O2 and the V80 will be released by them on the 7th July. Got mine on order now, hopefully ill like it, if not back it goes.

strange. o2 didnt even know what a v80 was when my dad rang up damnit. Think i might open a new contract with carphone warehuse since o2 have been shocking service.

I got the V80 on upgrade from O2 for £29.99. Haven't got it yet though, cause they still haven't had it in stock, hopefully I will be able to pick it up this week cause they're expecting them at my local O2 store. :D

Sim-Free V80 cost aroung 285...

I went for the SIM-FREE, because Moto have put a FT5gC warrenty on the phone.

If at any time i feel my phone is falling apart all gotta do is send them the phone back. and they repair it and send it back

My V80 feels much more well built much more than the V600, the weight ratio has been edited for the UK.

From a personal view the following:

GOOD

styling
firmware
mp3 playback
speaker quality
situaltional lights
HIGH RES CAM AND SCREEN

BAD

a bit too light for its size
SHOULD HAVE A 262k screen and a 1.5mp cam
similar in functionality to the V600

Is it true you can only stores 20 sms messages because they are only stored on the sim card?

it has around 6mb worth of space

Gonna have a play around when its fully charged.

I also got a free bluetooth headset in the box with it, do they all come with this or is it a limited offer?

Hey everyone, I'm new to the post, but have been reading up on a lot of things. I wasn't sure exactly what post to put this in, so I picked this one since is had something to do with my question.

I'm trying to decide between a motorola v80, and the samsung d410. I don't know which one to pick, and I'm always hearing two completely opposite reactions to it. Can anyone help, or give any suggestions? Thanks
